이 글은 엘리자베스 퀴블러 로스의 안내를 받아 남의 일이 아닌 나의 일, 즉 나의 죽음에 대한 이해와 대비를 위하여 그녀가 말하는 죽음의 현상, 죽음의 실체, 죽음의 의미, 더불어 삶의 교훈에 대해 하나씩 살펴보고자 한다. 그런 측면에서 이 글의 궁극적 목적은 엘리자베스가 말하는 메타모퍼시스로서의 죽음에 대한 이해에 있다. 필자는 이것을 죽음의 해석학이라 명명하고자 한다. 이런 일련의 논의는 그녀가 남긴 다채로운 저작들에 대한 분석을 통해 진행될 것이며, 그녀의 죽음의 해석학이 우리시대에 어떤 의미가 있는지, 나아가 현대인의 삶 가운데 어떤 울림을 줄 수 있는지에 대해 살펴보고자 한다.
In this article, I try to deal the meaning of death, substance of death, and phenomena of death in terms of Elisabeth Kübler Ross’s hermeneutics of death. In this context, the purpose of this article is to understand death as a metamorphosis. In order to understand it, I will analyze her’s some works connected with death. And I will research the meaning and lesson of hermeneutics of death of Elisabeth Kübler Ross in terms of our era, society and contemporary life style.
