연구목적: 이 연구에서는 특수교사가 인식하고 있는 중도·중복장애학생에 대한 정의에 대하여 분석하고 필요한 교육지원 요구를 파악하는데 목적이 있다. 연구방법: 이를 위하여 중도·중복장애학생을 지도하거나 경험이 있는 특수교사 254명을 대상으로 중도·중복장애학생의 특성, 교육지원 요구에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 기술통계, 의미 연결망 분석, 로지스틱 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과: 특수교사는 학교에 상당 수의 중도·중복장애학생이 있다고 하였으며 장애 유형으로는 지체장애, 지적장애, 자폐성장애인 것으로 나타났다. 중도·중복장애학생은 현재발달수준, 일상생활특성, 정서·행동특성에서 낮은 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 현재발달수준에서 현저히 낮은 수준인 것으로 나타났다. 중도·중복장애학생을 위한 교육지원에서 학급에 대한 인원 수 감축이나 시수 조정에 대한 요구가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 중도·중복장애학생을 위한 정의와 교육지원 요구는 구분되는 특성이 아니라 종합적으로 판단하여야 할 필요가 있으며 교육지원을 위하여 중도·중복장애를 법으로 명문화할 필요가 있다.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the definition of students with severe and multiple disabilities recognized by special education teachers and to grasp necessary education support needs. Method: A total of 254 special education teachers who had taught or experienced students with severe and multiple disabilities were asked about the characteristics of students with severe and multiple disabilities and educational support for them. The survey data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, semantic network analysis, and logistic hierarchical regression analysis. Results: Specific types of disabilities the respondents described about students who had severe disabilities included physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and autistic disorder. Students with severe and multiple disabilities were found to be low level in development and daily life activities, and they had emotional and behavioral issues. Especially, their current developmental level was remarkably low. In the educational support for students with severe and multiple disabilities, there was a high demand for the reduction of the number of students or the adjustment of the number of classes. Conclusion: Definition and educational support needs for students with severe and multiple disabilities needed to be judged synthetically rather than using distinctive characteristics. In order to support education, it was necessary to stipulate severe and multiple disabilities as laws.
