2015 개정 국어과 교육과정에서는 연극 교육 활성화를 주요 목표 중 하나로 정하여 문학 영역 내에 관련 성취기준을 마련하였으며, 체험 중심의 연극 활동을 위한 초등 5~ 6학년군의 ‘연극’ 대단원을 개설하였다. 이에 본 연구는 국어교육 내에서 연극 교육의 의미를 재정립하고 향후 교육과정에도 의미 있는 방향을 제공하기 위해 초등학교 교육과정에서 연극교육 관련 교수․학습 용어의 변천과 용례를 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 통해 국어 교육에서 향후 연극교육이 담당해야 하는 기능과 역할이 무엇인지 살펴볼 수 있으며, 이후 교육과정에서 연극교육이 어떠한 방식으로 활용할 수 있는 현실적 논의를 위한 계기를 마련하고자 한다. 이 글에서는 교수요목기에서 제4차 교육과정까지의 국어과 교육과정을 분석하여 초등학교 교육과정에서 연극교육 관련 교수․학습 용어의 변천과 용례를 살펴보았다. 본 연구에서 초등학교 연극교육 관련 용어를 ‘연극’, ‘극’, ‘희곡’, ‘극본’ 등의 개념 용어와 ‘-꾸미기’, ‘-하기’ 등의 교수․학습 용어로 구분하여 분석하였다. 이미 여러 연구에 혼재되어 사용되고 있는 현실에서 하나의 용어로 규정하는 것은 어렵다. 그러나 각 용어가 활용되는 의미를 살펴 이후 초등학교 국어과 교육과정 및 교과서에 각 개념을 효과적으로 구현한다면, 이것이 연극교육을 통해 함양할 수 있는 본래의 가치를 드러낼 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
In the 2015 Revised Korean Language Education Curriculum, revitalization of drama education was set as one of the main goals and related achievement standards were set up in the field of literature and the ‘drama’ section of the 5th to 6th grade elementary school was opened for experience-oriented drama activities. The purpose of this study is to investigate the changes in teaching and learning terminology related to drama education in elementary school curriculum in order to redefine the meaning of drama education in Korean language education and provide a meaningful direction to future education. Through this, it is possible to investigate what function and role should be played in drama education in Korean language education in the future, and to establish a moment for realistic discussion how drama education can be utilized in the future. In this paper, we analyzed the curriculum of the Korean language curriculum from the U.S. Army Period to the fourth curriculum, and examined the changes and examples of teaching and learning terminology related to drama curriculum in elementary school curriculum. In this study, the terms related to theater education in elementary school were divided into teaching terms such as ‘drama’, ‘theatre’, ‘Play’, ‘a play’. It is difficult to define the term as a single term in the reality that is already mixed in various research. However, if the concept of each term is utilized effectively in elementary school curriculum and textbooks of elementary school, it is expected that this can reveal the original value that can be cultivated through drama education.
