이 연구의 목적은 1942년에 간행된 행림서원판 『향약집성방』 향약명의 체계와 통시적 특성을 분석하여 어휘사적 성격을 규명하는 데에 있다. 이 책은 원간본의 체재를 유지하면서 판식을 고치고 새 향약명, 이칭, 부가 정보 등을 덧붙인 증보판 성격의 중간본이다. 다른 의서보다 수록된 향약명 항목이 많고, 새 향약명도 30%에 달해 향약명의 집성이라는 가치를 가진다. 또한 상당수의 이칭은 향약명의 어휘 범주 설정과 단어족 구성을 가능케 한다. 아울러 향약명 구성소에 새로운 형태, 희귀어, 방언이 많은 것도 어휘사적 가치를 높인다. 의서 간의 향약명 공유 양상을 보면, 『동의보감』의 영향을 가장 많이 받았으며, 두 책은 향약명 어휘 체계의 전환을 가져오는 분기점 역할을 한 것으로 추정된다. 결국 이 책은 이전의 향약명을 집성함과 동시에 현대 국어 어형까지 포함함으로써, 이전 시기 향약명 어휘 체계와 현대 국어 어휘 체계의 연결고리 역할을 하고 있다. 따라서 개별 향약명 어휘사와 향약명 어휘체계사의 기술에 크게 기여할 수 있는 자료이다.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the lexical history of the Hyangyak Terminology in Hyangyak Jipseongbang Published by Haengnimseowon (henceforth, HHJ). The main results are as follows; First, HHJ is a revised-edition which modernized the print style and added new Hyangyak Terminology, Another Names, additional information. Therefore, HHJ has value of being a collective version of the Hyangyak Terminology. Second, comparing to other medical books, it contains a relatively large number of Hyangyak Terminology items. Also, the fact that 30% of total items appear in the HHJ for the first time has a great significance in the lexical history. Third, unlike other medical books, HHJ includes large number of Another Names in Korean. And they function as a basic data for setting up lexical category called Hyangyak Terminology and constructing lexical word family of Hyangyak Terminology. Forth, it is also meaningful that there are many new vocabulary, morphemes, and rare words or dialects in the Hyangyak Terminology of HHJ. Fifth, comparing the similarity between main medical books and HHJ, it is considered that Donguibogam had the greatest influence on HHJ. Ultimately, Donguibogam and HHJ serves as a turning point in the flow of the lexical history of Hyangyak Terminology. Seventh, the fact that modern Korean vocabulary coexists in HHJ has significant value in the lexical history. It is an important reference that can be used to check how the Hyangyak Terminology has been transferred to the modern language. As a result, Hyangyak Terminology in HHJ plays a role of historical connection between old and modern Hyangyak Terminology systems. Therefore, it is considered to be a material that can contribute greatly to a description of individual word history and lexicon system history.
