복음주의자들의 연합으로 조직된 미국의 NAE와 십대선교회(Youth for Christ) 는 6.25전쟁 기간 동안에 두 가지 활동을 하였다. 하나는 십대선교회에 소속된 밥 피어스와 빌리 그래함을 통한 복음전파였고, 다른 하나는 밥 피어스의 월드비전과 NAE 산하의 세계구호위원회를 통한 구호 사역이었다. 밥 피어스와 빌리 그래함의 복음전파 사역은 반공이념을 바탕으로 미국에서 부흥운동을 일으켜 공산주의와 의 싸움에서 이기고자 목표를 가지고 있었다. 이들은 특히 6.25전쟁 과정에서 이러 한 미국 반공 메시아니즘에 입각하여 한국에서 복음을 전파하여 공산주의와의 싸 움에서 민주주의를 지키고자 하였다. 다른 한편에서 이들은 구제 사업을 하면서도 영혼구원을 하겠다는 명확한 목적 을 가지고 있었다. 이러한 목적을 위해 밥 피어스는 월드비전을 조직한 후에 한국 에 있던 동양선교회, 북장로교선교회, 침례교선교회, NAE의 구호 조직과 함께 사 역을 하였다. 그리고 NAE 산하의 세계구호위원회는 6.25전쟁 기간 동안에 주로 동 양선교회의 엘마 길보른과 손잡고 식량과 의류 제공을 통해 구호 사역을 하였다. 한국 NAE는 1953년에 미국의 NAE와 연계되어 초기에는 장로교 중심으로 조직되었다가, 1955년 2월에 라이트 총무의 내한을 계기로 장로교를 비롯한 여러 교 파들의 연합 조직으로 탄생하였다. 이 시기 한국 NAE는 아직까지 성경 권위와 정 통 교리 고수에 더 중점이 있었으며, NCC와 WCC와의 관계 설정도 명확하지 못 하였다.
The US NAE and Youth for Christ International, organized as a union of evangelicals, performed two activities during the Korean War. One was evangelism through Bob Pierce and Billy Graham in Youth for Christ International and the other was a relief ministry through Bob Pierce’s World Vision and World Relief Committee. Bob Pierce and Billy Graham’s mission to preach the gospel has the goal to win the fight against communism by raising the revival movement in America, based on the anti-communism ideology. They preached the gospel in Korea in the course of the Korean War based on the US anti-communism messianism, and tried to defend democracy in the struggle against communism. On the other hand, they had a clear purpose of salvation while doing relief. For this purpose, Bob Pierce organized World Vision and then worked with OMS, North Presbyterian Mission, Baptist Mission in Korea, and NAE. During the Korean War, the World Relief Committee, under the NAE, worked with Elma Kilbourne, an OMS missionary, to provide relief through food and clothing.
