주자와 양명의 ‘지(知)와 행(行)’에 관한 견해는 주자, 양명의 핵심 사상 중 하나이다. 그래서 고등학생들이 공부하는 검정 “윤리와 사상” 대부분의 교과서가 이 내용을 다루고 있다. 2019년 현재 고3 학생들이 공부하고 있는 2009 개정 교육과정 교과서 중 천재교육 교과서는 “주희의 지행병진과 달리 양명은 지행합일을 강조하였다.”라고 하여 주자의 지행병진과 양명의 지행합일을 완전히 대조시켜 기술하고 있다. 지학사와 교학사 교과서는 지행병진과 지행합일을 각각 주자와 양명의 입장으로 비교하여 기술하고 있다. 2019년 현재 고2 학생들이 공부하고 있는 2015 개정 교육과정 교과서 중 교학사 교과서는 지행병진과 지행합일을 각각 주자와 양명의 입장으로 비교하고 있고, 미래엔, 비상교육 교과서도 지행병진은 주자에만, 양명은 지행합일만 기술하고 있다. 이로 인해 학교 현장의 많은 학생들이 양명은 ‘지행병진이 아닌 지행합일’을 주장한 것으로 오해할 가능성이 있어 개선의 여지가 있다. 양명은 “전습록”의 여러 부분에서 ‘지행병진’을 강조하고 있기 때문이다. ‘지행병진’은 ‘지와 행’에 관한 양명의 핵심 입장인 것이다. 조속한 시일 내에 교과서 관련 부분의 수정이 이루어져 학생들이 교과서를 통해 정확한 지식을 얻을 수 있도록 해야 한다.
The view of Chu Hsi and Yang-ming on ‘Knowledge(知) and Action(行)’ is one of their core thoughts. This is the reason that most of the authorized high school textbooks, “Ethics and Thoughts”, deal with this subject. The textbook published by Chunjae Education Inc., under the 2009 curriculum revision, which is studied by current high school seniors in 2019, provides a completely contrasting description of Knowledge and Action of Chu Hsi and Yang-ming by defining “unlike Chu Hsi saying knowledge and action always require each other, Yang-ming emphasized the unity of knowledge and action.” The textbooks published by Jihak Publishing Co., Ltd. and Kyohak Publishing Co., Ltd. don’t provide a marked contrast similar to the Chunjae Education textbook, but they give a comparative description of the parallelism of knowledge and action and the unity of knowledge and action, as the views of Chu Hsi and Yang-ming respectively. The Kyohak textbook, under the 2015 curriculum revision, currently studied by high school juniors in 2019, compares the parallelism of knowledge and action as the view of Chu Hsi and the unity of knowledge and action as the view of Yang-ming. The textbooks published by Mirae-n Co., Ltd. and Visang also give the description of the parallelism of knowledge and action only under Chu Hsi, while the unity of knowledge and action is described only under Yang-ming. This leads many students to misunderstand that Yang-min insisted ‘not the parallelism of knowledge and action but the unity of knowledge and action. However, Yang-ming highlighted ‘the parallelism of knowledge and action’ in several parts of “Chuanxilu”. ‘The parallelism of knowledge and action’ is the core opinion of Yang-ming. Relevant parts in the textbooks should be revised as soon as possible, so that students can acquire accurate knowledge through their textbooks.
