Johannes Calvin’s Economic Ethics and Diakonia

점점 더 커져가는 일반소비현상과 소수 부유층의 상상을 초월하는 사치와 낭비, 가진 자와 없는 자로 대비되는 갑질 문제 그리고 점점 더 심화되는 양극화현상으로 인한 불평등은 우리 사회를 아프게만 하고 있다. 물질적 부와 재화의 불평등한 분배 상황과 가진 자와 그렇지 못한 자가 명확하게 구별되어 함께 공존하고 있는 사회 현실 게다가 각자 개개인의 노력과 능력에 의한 일의 성취 보다는타고 나면서부터 얻게 되는 집안의 배경과 조건이 삶의 수준을 결정짓는 더 중요한 요인이 되어 버린 상황에서 디아코니아 섬김이라는 단어를 떠올리기는 참으로어려운 사회이다. 세상이 공정하지 못하고 불평등한 사회 속에서 칼빈의 디아코니아는 무엇을 이야기 하고 있는가? 불공평해 보이는 세상 그러나 칼빈의 신학에서 보면 그것은 바로 디아코니아의 시작이요 실천의 장소이다. 본 논문은 크게세 가지 주제 아래 칼빈의 경제윤리 속에 나타난 디아코니아 사상에 대해 논의하였다. 첫째 칼빈의 경제윤리의 신학적인 배경이 되는 하나님의 절대주권과 자아부정이라는 가르침과 둘째 사회 경제 윤리와 관련된 칼빈의 다양한 주제에 대한 그의 디아코니아적 견해를 제시한 다음 마지막으로 칼빈의 사회경제 윤리적인디아코니아 신학이 현대를 살아가는 우리에게 어떤 의미와 가르침을 전하고 있는지에 대해 살펴보았다.

This research delves into Calvin’s Theology of Diakonia in order to discuss the socio-ceonomic issues in terms of inequality, economic polarization and economic ethics. What does Calvin’s Diakonia speak of toward the unequal society and the unfair world? In Calvin’s theology, it is the unfair world, where Diakonia begins and where to do Diakonia. This research discusses Diakonia in Calvin 's economic ethics with three broad themes. First of all, looking over the teachings of God’s absolute sovereignty and self-denial, which are the theological background of Calvin’s economic ethics. Second, presenting Calvin’s view of Diakonia about various themes related to socio-economic ethics. Lastly, this paper examines what Calvin’s social, economic and ethical theology of Diakonia means to us and how it guides us to live today.
