이 논문은 성서 본문으로 영적지도가 가능한가의 질문에서 시작한다. 전 통적으로 영적지도는 영적지도자와 피지도자간의 물리적 만남과 대화를 통 해 이뤄져왔다. 그러나, 본 논문은 전통적으로 이뤄진 ‘면대면(face-to-face)’ 영적지도도 중요한 맥락이지만, 서신을 통한 영적지도도 가능함을 설명한 다. 필자는 먼저 서신서로 영적지도를 가능케 한 예를 디트리히 본회퍼 (Dietrich Bonhoeffer)의 서신에서 찾았다. 그가 어떻게 『옥중서간』 으로 그의 영적지도 대상자이며 영혼의 친구인 ‘베트게 (E. Bethge)’와, 예비 부부 에게 ‘책임감’ ‘비종교적 기독교의 의미’ ‘타자성’에 대해 영적지도를 해주었 는지를 다루었다. 이어서, 필자는 이렇게 서신을 통한 영적안내가 가능함을 설명하며, 영적지도자인 바울이 어떻게 디모데 전후서를 통해 영적 피지도 자인 디모데에게 영적 지도(지도자의 자세, 하나님 체험, 여러 목회 상황에 서의 분별)를 해주었는지를 살펴보았다.
This article is about Spiritual direction. It begins with the question; “Is spiritual direction possible with the biblical text?” Traditionally, spiritual di- rection could work in a meeting between a spiritual director and directee in a physical space. However, I demonstrated that spiritual direction is possible with the biblical text even though spiritual direction which has worked in the form of “face-to-face” is still crucial in the field. Therefore, I argued that Dietrich Bonhoeffer also gave spiritual direction to his directees with the text called The Letters and Papers from Prison. I dealt with how he led his directees (E. Bethge and couples for a wedding) spiritually by having spiritual direc- tion about “responsibility,” “the meaning of Religionless Christianity,” “Otherness.” After I asserted that spiritual direction can be possible with the text like TheLetters andPapersfromPrison, I demonstrated that Paul also can give spiritual direction to Timothy with the text the first and second Timothy about “attitude of spiritual director,” “experience of God,” “how to discern in the pastoral context.”
