이 글에서 필자는 박목월 시의 김소월 시 수용 양상과 자기화 과정을 박목월이 남긴 산문 텍스트에 나타난 김소월 시 담론을 통해 조망해보았다. 박목월은 생전에 「나의 愛誦詩」를 비롯한 여러 편의 김소월 관련 글을 쓰고, 또 正本 金素月詩 鑑賞이라는 단행본을 출간했다. 그는 김소월에게서 자기 시의 원형질을 발견하고 지양해나가야 할 감정과잉이나 감상성(感傷性)을 또한 발견한다. 말하자면 박목월에게 김소월은 선망의 대상이자 극복의 대상이었다. 물론 박목월의 시적 출발은 30년대의 시가 이룩해놓은 한국 현대시의 감수성 속에서 배태될 수 있었다고 본다. 그러나 ‘청춘의 노래’라는 본연의 서정성은 박목월이자신과 소월을 동일시할 정도였고, 이별과 죽음 등의 형이상학적인 문제와 같은굵직한 문제에서 그는 단연 김소월의 영향을 많이 받았다고 할 수 있다. 박목월은 자신이 김소월 시에서 느낀 불만을 자신의 오랜 시작과정 속에서해소시켜나감으로써 김소월 시를 자기화시켜 나가려는 노력을 지속한다. 그 과정을 통하여 박목월은 부단한 자기 갱신 과정에 놓여 있었던 시세계의 전기가되는 훌륭한 시를 쓰기도 한다. 본고는 구체적인 예로, 김소월의 「招魂」의 영향으로 박목월의 「下官」, 「이별가」그리고 「日常事」가 쓰여졌고, 김소월의 「往十里」 의 영향으로 박목월의 「往十里」가 쓰여졌음을 밝혔다. 이는 박목월 시작의 전 기간 동안 그의 의식 속에 깊이 뿌리 내리고 있었던김소월의 시가 박목월의 시를 갱신시키는 동인으로 작용하고 있음을 반증한다. 이 글은 김소월 시와 박목월 시의 영향관계를 새로운 관점에서 열어놓는 데디딤돌 역할을 할 것으로 생각한다.
The purpose of this article aims to shed light on some aspects of the poet Park Mok-wol's acceptance of Kim So-wol's poetry and on the process of his application or internalization of it by examining his own poems and some material left by him, with a view to offering some new perspectives in understanding the influence of the Korea's most famous poet Kim So-wol's poetry on that of Park Mok-wol. It can be said that Park Mok-wol began to write poems under the influence of the sensitivity in Korean modern poetry of the 1930s. He also liked so much to read the poetry of Kim So-wol that he published lots of writings about the poet including "나의 애송시"(My Favorite Poems) and a book about the poet titled 正本 金素月詩 鑑賞(정본 김소월 시 감상)(Appreciation of Kim So-wol's Poetry). But as for Park Mok-wol, Kim So-wol was the very poet that he envied much and desired so much to overcome as well. The very fact accounts for the writing of his great poems and his other writings about Kim So-wol's poetry. For example, he can even be identified with Kim So-wol when we judge by his lyricism in his poems about youth and he was greatly influenced by the poet when he wrote poems about metaphysical subjects such as separation, death, and so on. And in the poetry of Kim So-wol Park Mok-wol even found out the protoplasm of his own poetry and his literary shortcoming such as overabundant sentimentality or mawkishness as well. And, through his long literary life, Park Mok-wol consistently tried to internalize the poetry of Kim So-wol, taking into consideration some unsatisfactory aspects in it. As a result of the long process of the internalization, he was able to write a lot of great poems. For example, his poems "下官(하관)"(The Lowering of the Coffin), "이별가"(A Farewell Song), and "日常事(일상사)"(Everyday Thins) were written under the influence of Kim So-wol's poem "招魂(초혼)"(Invocation of the Spirit of the Dead), and his poem "往十里(왕십리)"(Wangsim-ni) under the influence of Kim so-wol's poem of the same title "往十里(왕십리)." It means that the poetry of Kim So-wol deeply embedded in his consciousness continually had a great influence on his own poetry.
