오늘날 다양한 사회 문제는 최소한의 가치들이 존중되지 않는 데서 그 원인을 찾을 수 있다. 하지만 이 문제를 단순히 학생들에게 가치를 주입하고 전달하는 식으로 해결하고자 하는 것은 민주시민교육의 가치교육 방법으로는 부적절하다. 본 연구자는 이러한 문제의식에서 가치교육의 목적으로 ‘가치성찰’을 제안하고, 이를 위한 대안적 가치교육 방안으로 ‘가치사실’ 중심 접근을 제안하였다. 이 논문에서는 ‘가치사실’의 의미를 분명히 하고 베버, 퍼트남, 듀이의 논의를 통해 근거를 제시하였다. 본 논문은 ‘가치사실’ 중심 접근에 대한 이론적 정당화에 초점을 두었으며, 마지막 부분에 이를 예시하는 실천적 적용 방안을 간략히 제시하였다.
Today's diverse social problems are derived from the lack of ‘value reflection’ in which minimal basic values are not respected. However, to solve this problem simply by injecting and conveying value to students is inadequate as a value education method of democratic civic education. In this regard, this researcher proposed a ‘value-fact’ centered approach as an alternative value education method that enables ‘value reflection’. The discussion in this article will clarify the meaning of the ‘value-fact’, and the rationale for this will be presented by Weber, Putnam, and Dewey. This paper focuses on the theoretical justification of the ‘value-fact’ centered approach, and briefly presents the practical application method to illustrate this at the end.
