본고에서는 이옥봉 작품으로 확정된 작품을 대상으로 해서 시 세계를 살피고, 이옥봉 배경담을 중심으로 해서 이옥봉 인물의 정체성을 규명하고자 했다. 옥봉의 삶의 궤적, 즉 출생, 결연, 결연 파기, 비장한 죽음 등을 천착한 결과 옥봉은 준 영웅 해당되는 삶을 살았다고 결론 내릴 수 있었다. 이는 옥봉의 객관적 측면보다는 옥봉의 내적 욕망에서 기인하는 점이 컸다. 여기에 부합해서 옥봉 작품의 특성은 형이상학적 욕망을 표출하는 것과 시공간을 응축, 확대하는 기법을 통해서 잘 드러나고 있었다. 즉 옥봉의 욕망은 심층적 층면에서는 아버지와 남편의 신분이나 하는 일, 즉 관직의 삶을 꿈꾼 것으로 드러났다. 그러나 이는 표면적으로 자각하고 있고 의도적으로 추구하는 욕망이라기보다는 무의식적으로 지향하는 모방적 욕망이라고 할 수 있었다. 또한 옥봉의 현이상학적 욕망은 시 텍스트에서 시공을 응축하고 확장하는 것으로 표출되기도 했다. 시공간을 응축하고 확장하는 기법은 결국 옥봉의 거침없는 자의식 발로의 기법 중 하나라고 할 수 있었다. 비록 여성과 서얼이라는 이중 결핍을 가지고 사회 부조리 속에서 힘든 삶을 살았지만 여기에 승복하지 않고 온 몸을 던져 치열한 삶을 살면서 주옥같은 작품을 남겼다는 점에서 훌륭한 선조의 전범이라 할 수 있다.
This paper is aiming at examining the poetic world for the work that has been confirmed as Lee Ok-bong's work and identifying the character of Lee Ok-bong based on her background After studying the trajectory of Ok-bong's life, such as birth, association, breaking of association, and tragic death, it is possible to conclude that Ok-bong lived a worthy life like a hero. This is largely due to the inner desire of the Ok-bong rather than due to the objective aspect of the Ok-bong. In conformity with this, the characteristics of Ok-bong's works are well demonstrated through the expression of metaphysical desire and the technique of condensing and enlarging time and space. In other words, Ok-bong's desire is found to have dreamed of the position and duties of father and husband, or life of a government official in terms of consciousness But this is not an ostensibly conscious and purposeful desire, but an instinctively oriented imitative desire. Also, Ok-bong's phenomenological desire is expressed as condensed and expanded time and space. The technique of condensing and expanding time and space was one of Ok-bong's relentless self-consciousness. Although She had a hard times in social absurdity with a double deficiency of a woman and the child of a concubine, she is a paragon of good ancestors throwing her whole body away, leading a fierce life, and leaving behind gem-like pieces of work without accepting social absurdity.
