경찰은 평창동계올림픽 기간 동안 테러대비 상황실을 설치하여 테러안전활동을 강화하고 테러취약시설에 대한 특별점검을 실시하는 한편 올림픽 기간동안 현장중심의 성공적인 테러예방활동을 실시하였다. 이처럼 한국경찰의 테러대응 역량은 다양한 국제행사를 경험하면서 성장하고 주요한 정책과제의 지표를 확실하게 설정하고 있다. 이 논문은 경찰의 테러대응역량을 강화하여 국내일반테러의 주관기관으로써 증대되는 임무 및 역할을 효과적 달성을 위한 정책적 제언을 하고자 한다. 이에 따라 기존의 정책과제 수행정도를 분석 및 평가하고 현장중심의 테러예방활동과 유관기관과의 협업강화 그리고 대국민 홍보 및 전문성 강화방안 등을 제시하였다.
The police set up a situation room for terrorism during the PyeongChang Winter Olympics to strengthen terrorist safety activities and conduct a special inspection of terrorist-weak facilities, while conducting successful on-site anti-terrorism activities during the Olympics. As such, the Korean police's ability to respond to terrorism is growing through various international events and clearly setting indicators for major policy issues. This paper seeks to make policy suggestions for the effective attainment of the increased mission and role as the organ of general terror in Korea by strengthening the police's counter-terrorism capabilities. Accordingly, the existing policy tasks were analyzed and evaluated, and measures were presented to prevent terrorism, strengthen cooperation with related agencies, and enhance public relations and professionalism.
