Purpose- The purpose of this study is to identify the perceived value of the residents on urban tourism resources in old cores of Gwangju, and investigate the effect of residents’ evaluation on urban tourism resources on their behavioral intention. Design, data, and methodology- In this study, data were collected from the residents who visited old urban cores in Gwangju from May 19 to 20, 2018, and finally 278 questionnaires were analyzed. Result- The six dimensions of urban tourism resources in old urban cores of Gwangju were identified; culture & art, Asian culture center, lodging, shopping, food, and history. The results showed that female respondents evaluated high food factor than males. It was also found that 10s ranked low on Asian culture Center factor, 40s ranked high lodging factor, and 10s and 20s ranked high culture & art factor while they ranked low historic factor. It was confirmed that culture & art, food, and shopping factors affected on residents’ intention to revisit, and culture & art and shopping factors affected on residents’ intention to recommend. Conclusions- The results offer some insights into the revitalization strategies focusing on culture & art, shopping and food for the revitalization of old urban cores in Gwangju.
