This study explored what individual and social experiences lead immigrant workers living as aliens in Korea to gambling addiction, using phenomenological research method. It is useful socially and practically to understand the process of developing gambling addiction when working in Korea. For this purpose, the participants were voluntarily consented five addicts and data were collected through one-on-one in-depth interviews for six months from July 2018. As a result, the essential themes were “changing direction for survival”, "losing oneself without responsibility and shame”, “changing one’s body for gambling”, "losing home to return”, “gambling as a routine in daily life”, and "obsession with a fortune in one stroke.” Based on the results, this study make suggestions to prevent immigrant workers' gambling addiction issues.
