This study aims to present a case for utilizing movies in EFL classrooms and to provide teachers with practical applications for its use in their own classrooms. Movies are attractive teaching materials in that they offer real life information to EFL learners in a natural way and provide them with cultural information which is a key aspect in EFL learning. In this study, a movie titled The Parent Trap was selected because it consists of daily conversational English, rich cultural information, and a touching story that depicts the value of family love. In the process of watching the movie, a total of eight scenes were chosen and analyzed from the perspective of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and culture. This study presents the analysis on the third scene as a sample and the results of the analysis can be an example that EFL teachers could apply to their own classroom setting. Several practical and crucial factors were discussed through the analysis. Based on the results of this study, future research is also recommended in order to explore the effects of utilizing movies on EFL students’English proficiency and affective domains.
