본 논문에서는 「중용」편과 「맹자」편의 순차로 구성된 『주자언론동이고』의 구조적인 문제를 한원진의 공부론에 입각하여 살펴보았다. 율곡이 『성학집요』에서 『대학』, 『논어』, 『맹자』, 『중용』의 순서로 『사서』의 독법을 논한 주자의 공부론을 정리한 이래, 『사서』의 배치 순서에 대해 이견을 제시한 율곡학파의 학자는 없었다. 그런데 율곡의 사상을 계승한 적통이자 호론의 종주로 일컬어지는 한원진은 어떠한 부연 설명도 없이 이례적으로 「중용」편과 「맹자」편의 순서로 『주자언론동이고』를 구성하였다. 이에 필자는 한원진이 주로 미발에 관한 공부론으로 「중용」편을 구성하고 있으며 기질에 관한 공부론으로 「맹자」편을 구성하고 있는 점에 착안하여, 『주자언론동이고』의 「중용」편과 「맹자」편의 체계를 한원진의 공부론으로 이해하고자 하였다. 율곡이 거경(居敬)을 기반으로 궁리(窮理) 공부에 이어서 바로 역행(力行) 공부를 강조하였다면, 한원진은 거경을 기반으로 하되 궁리 공부에 이어서 미발심을 경으로 존양(存養)하는 공부를 주장한 이후에 기질변화의 역행 공부를 강조하는 특징이 있다. 이에 『주자언론동이고』에서 「중용」편과 「맹자」편의 순서로 구성하게 된 것은 미발심을 존양하는 공부 이후에 기질변화의 역행 공부를 전개하는 한원진의 공부론과 개연성이 있다고 하겠다.
In this thesis, the structural problems of Jujaeonrondongeego that consists of Jungyong and Maengja in order were examined based on Han Won-jin's theory of study. Since Yulgok in Seonghakjipyo organized Zhu Xi's theory of study which discussed the way of reading Saseo in the order of Daehak, Noneo, Maengja and Jungyong, there have been no scholars of Yulgok School holding a different view on the arrangement order of Saseo. Yet, Han Won-jin called as the main successor of Yulgok's ideas and the leader of Horon composed Jujaeonrondongeego exceptionally in the order of Jungyong and Maengja without any additional explanation. Accordingly, the structure of Jungyong and Maengja in Jujaeonrondongeego was examined based on Han Won-jin's theory of study from the understanding that Han Won-jin organized Jungyong mainly with the theory of study on pre-manifestation and Maengja with the theory of study on disposition. Whike Yulgok emphasized the study of retrogression(力行) directly following that of deliberation(窮理) based on the cultivation of virtues(居敬), Han Won-jin had the characteristics that he studied based on the cultivation of virtues, but emphasized the study on the retrogression of the changes in disposition after insisting on the study of the development(存養) of pre-manifested mind(未發心) with respect following the study of deliberation. Therefore, the composition of Jujaeonrondongeego in the order of Jungyong and Maengja can be said to be connected to Han Won-jin's theory of study insisting on the study on the retrogression of the changes in disposition after the study on the development of pre-manifested mind.
