Narrative Inquiry on Korean Church’s Absence and Dilemma about Catechism

본 연구는 종교개혁 신학과 신앙의 정수인 정통적 교리에 대한 한국교회의 무관심과 딜레마가 어떠한 양상으로 표출되고 있으며, 그것이 본질적으로 어떠한 맥락 속에서 나타나고 있는가에 대하여 내러티브 탐구를 통해 탐색해보았다. 이를 통해 교리교육에 대한 목회자, 교사 등 교회현장의 주체들에 의해 인식되고 있는 현장지향적인 연구결과들을 통해서 한국교회 내 교리교육의 건강한 회복을 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 도출된 연구결과로서 한국교회 내 교리교육의 부재와 딜레마에 대한 측면은 목회자들의 전문성 부재, 성도들의 삶에 대한 교리적 적용의 실천성 부재, 하향 평준화된 신앙생활로 인한 교리자체의 필요성에 대한 부재, 교리교육을 위한 교회현장 및 수요자맞춤형 교재와 프로그램의 부재, 교리에 대한 왜곡된 인식과 고정관념의 존재, 목회와 사역에 대한 양적성장 중심 패러다임의 존재 등으로 확인되었다.

This study analyzed how the Korean church’s absence and dilemma about catechism as the essence of reformed theology and faith, and explored through narrative inquiry into the context in which it is occurring. Through this, I tried to provide an implication on the restoration of catechism through the contents perceived by pastors and teachers in Korean church. The results of this study are as follows. 1) lack of professionalism of pastors on catechism, 2) lack of practicality of doctrinal application of congregation’ life, 3) lack of catechism education in Korean church, and 4) absence of customized textbooks and programs for catechism education, 5) existence of distorted perceptions and stereotypes about catechism, and 6) existence of a church growth-oriented paradigm for ministry.
