기원전 109년, 한의 위만조선 침공은 동아시아 국제질서를 한 중심으로 재편하려는 팽창과정에서 발발되었다. 필자는『사기』에 기록된 위만조선과 한의 전쟁을 클라우제비츠가 전쟁의 목표를 달성하기 위해 제시한 세 가지 조건을 기초로 전쟁의 진실에 접근하고자 했다. 먼저 적의 전투력 파괴라는 측면에서 위만조선의 전투력이 파괴되었거나, 한이 군사적 우세를 달성하였다는 논리적 정황은 찾을 수 없었다. 오히려 한의 수륙합동작전은 작전목표의 달성 가능성 측면에서 시간, 공간을 활용한 작전의 템포와 공격의 동시성을 달성할 수 없는 계획이었으며, 단일화된 지휘체계를 갖추지 못함으로써 전투력의 상대적 우세를 달성하지 못하고 전장의 주도권을 상실하였다. 또한 불가능에 가까운 해상 기동로와 상륙지역 선정, 육군의 도하 및 기동능력, 전쟁 지속지원능력 등은 현재까지 우리가 인식해 온 위만조선의 위치를 재검토해야 할 과제로 도출되었다. 적의 영토 점령 측면에서는 한이 위만조선을 점령했다는 신뢰할 수 있는 근거가 없으며, 적 의지의 굴복 측면에서는 위만조선 멸망 후 발생되는 부흥운동의 실체를 증명하고 이후 등장하는 부여와 고구려의 정체성을 올바로 정립할 수 있는 추가 연구가 필요할 것이다. 필자는 이 전쟁이 기록된 유일한 문서인『사기』의 연구를 통해 한이 위만조선과의 전쟁에서 실패하였다는 추론을 정황을 통해 설명하였고, 위만조선의 수도가 현재의 평양이라는 주장을 군사적 시각에서 타당성을 검증하였다.
BC109, The purpose of the Han invasion of Wiman Chosen was expansion process to make East Asian order the Han Centered. I attempted to analyze the truth of the Wiman Chosen and Han war recorded in history book using the three conditions Clausewitz claims to achieve the object of war. However, I could not find the basis for Wiman Chosen troops destroyed. Also, Han was unable to find a ground that was a militarily favorable situation. Rather, the joint operation plan of the Han Army and Navy could not achieve the simultaneous execution of the operational tempo and attack, because it can not produce a single command system, the relative superiority and initiative in battle lost. And considering the movement in the sea and the validity of the landing area, the ability of the army to cross the river and mobility, warfare support capacity, the location of Wiman Chosen must be reviewed. There is no basis for Han to occupied Wiman Chosen's territory. There is no basis for Wiman Chosens surrender mentally. Rather, it is necessary to conduct research to prove the substance of the reconstruction movement that occurred after the destruction of Wiman Chosen. I studied Chinese history and criticized academic opinion from a military point of view proving the assumption that Han failed in the war with Wiman Chosen.
