본 연구는 기형도의 ‘겨울 版畫’ 연작의 창작 의도와 그 의의를 살펴본 것이다. 각 연작에 나타난 시적 정황은 일상적인 장면과는 거리가 멀다. 뒤틀리고 암울한 장면들은 가정의 따뜻함, 크리스마스의 즐거움과 같은 지극히 사소하고 평범한 것들마저 박탈된 상황을 보여준다. 이러한 상황을 시에서 보여주었다는 것은 기형도의 현실 인식이 ‘지금의 현실은 어두운, 혹은 위악적 현실이다’와 같은 추상적 차원이 아닌 ‘지금의 현실은 크리스마스의 즐거움을 빼앗기고 집이 온기가 사라지는 등 일상성이 박탈되는 현실이다’와 같은 구체적인 차원임을 알 수 있게 해준다. 기형도는 연작에서 일상성이 파괴된 장면들을 ‘겨울 版畫’라는 부제 아래 연속적으로 배치함으로써 같은 층위의 뒤틀린 일상이 반복됨을 독자에게 인식시키고자 했다. 이는 소수자를 위한 문학이 지닌 전복적인 힘, 다시 말하면 현실 변혁의 의지를 발생시키고자 한 것이다. 전복적인 힘의 발생이란 연속에 의해 열린 내재성의 장이라는 내부의 힘만으로 상호적으로 변화하는 관계의 장을 인식하는 것으로 시적 정황과 그 연쇄를 발생시키는 주체인 권력과 욕망에 대해 인식하는 것을 말한다. 또한 기형도는 이것에 대한 인식을 통해 일상성이 개개인에게 이미 내재된 힘에 의해 회복(탈주)하는 것이 가능하다는 것까지 독자에게 전달하려하였다. 이렇듯 ‘겨울 版畫’ 연작은 기형도가 자신의 시에 담아내고자 했던 주제의식의 완성 과정을 집중적으로 담아낸 결과물이라는 의의를 지닌다고 할 수 있다.
This study aims to examine the significance and the intention to create a series of 'Winter Print' by Gi, Hyeong-Do. The poetic circumstances shown in each work are far from daily scenes. Such twisted and gloomy scenes show the situation deprived of quite minor and ordinary things like the warmth of family and the joy of Christmas. It means that Gi, Hyeong-Do's perception of reality is the concrete level like 'the current reality has been deprived of dailiness like no warmth at home and no joy of Christmas', instead of the abstract level like 'the current reality is dark or wicked'. Sequentially placing the scenes with the destroyed dailiness under the subtitle of 'Winter Print' in the series, he aimed to make readers recognize the repetition of the twisted dailiness in the same level. He aims to generate the literary power to overthrow, which is the will to change the reality. Perceiving a place of mutually-changing relationship only by internal power called a place of immanence open by the continuity, the generation of overthrowing power means the recognition of power and desire as the subjects generating the poetic circumstance and its series. Also, Gi, Hyeong-Do even aimed to show readers that the dailiness could be recovered(escaped) by the power already inherent in each individual based on this recognition. Like this, the series of ‘Winter Print’ are meaningful as they focus on the formation of a theme ritual that Ki Hyung-do wanted to capture in his poems.
