선군사상(先軍思想)이란 김정일 집권기 이래 북한의 유일하고도 포괄적인 통치 이데올로기로 표방되고 있는 이념이다. 이 이념의 기존 분석에는 크게 두 부류가 있다. 첫째, 한국 전통 사상과의 연관성에서 조명하되 그 구성요소를 선택적으로 이해하여 보려는 부류, 둘째, 마르크시즘과 그 변형 차원에서 조명하되 ‘순수 이데올로기’와 ‘실천 이데올로기’의 틀에 따라 이해하려는 부류이다. 요소 선택적인 관점이 지나친 자의성의 한계를 지니는 한편, 이데올로기의 층위에 따라 풀이하려는 관점 역시 무리한 적용의 한계를 갖는다. 따라서 여기서는 선군사상이 전통 사상과 일정한 구성요소적 동질성을 가지는 한편, 배경이 되는 사회적 맥락에서 동형성을 가진다는 점을 주목하여 고찰하였다. 결국 선군사상은 한편으로 마르크시즘에서 발원한 주체사상과의 본질적 동질성을 유지하는 가운데, 시대적 변화에 따른 편의적 이탈을 담보하는 사상이다. 그런 점에서 김정은 시대에 선군사상은 그 정치적 의의를 대체로 유지하면서도 전혀 다른 방향으로 이탈될 소지를 가지고 있다.
Songun Ideology(先軍思想) has been only and all-round political ideology within North Korea, since Kim Jong-Il seized to power. In general, two kind of analysers are for this ideology. First, they extract some tradition-friendly components from it, and insist its relation with traditional thoughts. While the others see it as a variation of Marxism, and understand it a ‘practial ideology’ of Juche Ideology, that is a ‘genuine ideology’. But we shall be careful to have no confirmation bias in selecting tradition-friendly components. Moreover, Juche and Songun are not separable in their nature, like hierarchial ideologies theorists' arguments. We analyze the Ideology, considering its partial homogeneity with Korean traditional thoughts and its contextual isomorphism with Marxist ideologies. In conclusion, during Kim Jong-Un's reign, Songun Ideology can persist while be manipulated to match new era's conditions.
