본고의 목적은 ‘박정희 신화’에 대한 무의식을 오늘날의 시각에서 되짚어보는 데 있으며, 프로이트와 푸코의 관점을 경유하여 박정희 시대의 통치성(governmentality)에 관해 살펴보는 데 주력한다. 분석의 시기는 ‘4․19’와 ‘5․16’이라는 결정적 사건을 계기로 한국 내 전 방위의 차원에서 “거대한 전환”이 일어났던 1960년대로 삼는다. 박정희 신화를 떠받치는 핵심적 기표는 ‘경제’인 것처럼 보인다. 그러나 박정희 신화가 언표되는 양상을 보면 그것은 경제의 범위를 초과하는 의미가 내포되어 있다. 본고는 경제보다는, 경제와 분리되기 어려운 개념이기는 하나, 푸코적 의미에서의 ‘통치(성)’가 신화의 핵심에 밀접하게 닿아 있다는 주장을 제기한다. 박정희 신화를 프로이트적인 의미의 ‘꿈’이라 할 수 있다면, 그 꿈의 내용은 ‘경제’로 구성되어 있으나 그것의 형식은 ‘통치’의 문제로 이루어져 있다는 것이다. 이를 위해 본고는 통치의 대상이자 전제인 ‘인구’가 1960년대의 ‘경제’라는 요소와 더불어 어떻게 발생했는지를, 그리고 인구로서 강제된 ‘국민’이라는 정체성이 어떻게 역설적으로 주체를 ‘자유’의 영역으로 이끌었는지를 기술한다. 그러나 ‘박정희 신화’는 그가 인민에게 자유를 가져다주었기에 발생한 것이 아니다. 그보다는 진정한 차원의 자유로의 지양을 기도했던 인민이, 박정희라는 기표에 ‘상징적 죽음’을 선고하는 데 실패하는 자리에서 ‘박정희 신화’가 쓰이게 된 것이다.
The purpose of this paper is to review the unconsciousness of ‘Park Chung-Hee Myth’ from today’s perspective, and focus on examining the governmentality of Park Chung-Hee through Freud and Foucault's point of view. The period of the analysis is the 1960s, when "The Great Transformation" took place throughout Korea. The key signatory to Park Chung-Hee myth appears to be ‘economy’. However, this article raises the claim that the “governmentality” is core of the myth. If Park Chung-Hee myth can be called ‘dream’ in Freudian sense, the dream contents are composed of ‘economy’, but its form is composed of ‘governmentality’ problem. For this purpose, this paper examines how the ‘population’, the object and the presupposition of government, emerged with the element of ‘economy’ in the 1960s, and how the identity of ‘nation’ forced by the population, paradoxically, made the ‘subject’. In addition, it argues that Park Chung-Hee myth was written in the place where the people's failed to condemn ‘symbolic death’ in the sign of ‘Park Chung-Hee’.
