본 연구에서는 조선전기 동동춤 아박의 가․무 · 악 융합 복원에 대해 살펴보았다. 먼저 『대악후보』 동동의 리듬을 찾아 음악을 복원하였고, 복원된 음악에 『악학궤범』 동동 가사를 붙여 노래를 복원하였으며, 복원된 동동 노래를 아박무에 융합하였다. 그리고 동동과 정읍의 음악적인 관계에 대해서도 살펴보았다. 동동 음악은 정읍과 같은 3분박 4박자 리듬의 선율로 나타났다. 장단은 장고점이 한 소절에 한 점씩 나오는 장단으로 되어 있다. 한 박이 3분박으로 되어 있는 점과 한 소절에 장고점 한 점씩 나오는 점은 오늘날의 동동에 그대로 전해지고 있다. 동동의 노래는 선율이 가사에 비해 매우 길어 어단성장으로 불렸던 것으로 보인다. 2～3음보로 되어 있는 가사의 구가 8소절에 실려 여음으로 종지하며 하나의 악구를 이루고, 한 음보는 대부분 2소절에 실려 있다. 두 소절 중 가사는 첫 소절에 붙고 둘째 소절은 종성을 길게 끌어 어단성장으로 불렸을 것으로 보인다. 이러한 어단성장은 조선후기의 가곡과 시조로 전해졌다. 아박무의 동작은 노래의 ‘강’단위로 바뀐다. 강이란 음악형식의 한 부분을 지칭하는 용어인데, 동동에서는 노래의 구가 실리는 한 악구에 해당된다. 구를 실은 악구가 바뀔 때마다 무용의 동작이 바뀐다. <동동>은 <정읍> 네 악구를 확대하여 다섯 악구로 만든 것이다. 정읍 선율의 틀을 따르면서 <동동> 가사에 맞게 편곡되었다.
This paper studies restoration of Dongdong dance Abak of early Joseon dynasty by unifying its music, song and dance which are recorded separately. Firstly, the music of Dongdong was restored by finding the rhythm of Dongdong in Daeakhubo. Secondly, the song of Dongdong was restored by adding the lyric written in Akhakgwebeom to the restored music. Thirdly, the restored song was unified with the dance Abak. Lastly, the musical relationship between Dongdong and Jeongeup song was investigated. The music of Dongdong was found to be the melody of Jeongeup’s rhythm whose measure consists of four ternary subdivided beats. The Jangdan of Dongdong is played one touch in a measure. Such ternary subdivided beat and one Janggo’s touch in a measure were transmitted to today’s Dongdong. The song Dongdong seems to be sung with Eodanseongjang 語短聲長, for the melody is much longer than the lyric. 2∼3 syllables of one sentence form one phrase by ending with Yeoum 餘音, and one syllable is mostly sung in two measures. By putting the syllable at the first measure and a long lasting tune at the second measure, Eodanseongjang 語短聲長 appears. Such an Eodanseongjang 語短聲長 style was transmitted to gagok and sijo of late Joseon dynasty. The movement of Abak is changed by the unit ‘Gang’. Gang is the term which refers to one section of musical structure, and in Dongdong it refers to one phrase of a sentence. At every phrase the movement of dance changes. Dongdong is an enlarged music from four phrases of Jeongeup into five phrases. Based on the frame of the melody of Jeongeup, Dongdong melody was arranged according to its lyric.
