본 연구의 목적은 어머니와 아버지의 양육스트레스와 부부갈등 간 자기효과와 상대방효과를 확인하고, 어머니와 아버지의 양육스트레스가 부부갈등을 매개로 유아의 내재화 및 외현화 문제행동에 영향을 미치는 효과를 단기 종단분석을 통해 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 육아정책연구소에서 수집한 한국아동패널 4차∼6차년도(2011년∼2013년) 자료에서 응답자들이 관련 변인에 모두 응답한 1,210개의 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 어머니와 아버지 모두 양육스트레스(4차년도)는 부부갈등(5차년도)에 정적인 영향을 미치는 자기효과와 상대방효과가 확인되었다. 효과 간 크기 비교 결과, 자기효과 및 상대방효과 모두 어머니가 아버지보다 더 큰 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 양육스트레스(4차년도)가 유아의 내재화 및 외현화 문제행동(6차년도)에 미치는 직접효과는 어머니의 양육스트레스만 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다. 어머니와 아버지의 양육스트레스 모두 어머니의 부부갈등을 매개로 유아의 외현화 문제행동에 정적인 영향을 미치는 간접효과와 아버지의 부부갈등을 매개로 유아의 내재화 문제행동에 정적인 영향을 미치는 간접효과가 있다는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 단기 종단분석을 통해 부모의 양육스트레스, 부부갈등, 유아의 내재화 및 외현화 문제행동 간의 상호인과성을 밝혔다는 점에서 의의를 가진다. 이러한 연구결과를 기초로 유아 자녀의 문제행동에 대한 개입과 중재에 대한 논의 및 후속 연구에 대해 제언을 제시하였다.
This study aimed to examine the actor and partner effect between parenting stress and marital conflict, and to examine the short-term longitudinal effect of parenting stress of mothers and fathers on the internalizing and externalizing problem behaviors of preschoolers. We analyzed the data on 1,210 respondents who participated in the 4th year (2011) to the 6th year (2013) of the Panel Study of Korean Children (PSKC) conducted by the Korean Institution of Child Care and Education. Findings revealed that both mothers and fathers had statistically significant positive actor and partner effects on parenting stress (4th year) and marital conflict (5th year). The direct effect of parenting stress (4th year) on the internalizing and externalizing problem behaviors (6th year) of preschoolers was statistically significant only for mothers’ parenting stress. Parental conflict (5th year) had an indirect effect on the parenting stress of mothers and fathers, which in turn had a statistically significant positive effect only on the externalizing problem behaviors of preschoolers. The marital conflict of fathers had a statistically significant positive effect only on the internalizing problem behaviors of preschoolers. This study is significant in that it examined the interrelationship between parenting stress, marital conflict, and the internalizing and externalizing problem behaviors of preschoolers through short-term longitudinal research. Based on these results, we discuss the implications for the development of interventions for preschoolers’ problem behaviors and propose suggests for future research.
