본 연구의 목적은 중증 저시력인을 대상으로 고등학교 시기의 진로 및 직업교육과 관련한경험의 의미를 이해하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 6명의 연구 참여자를 선정하여 심층면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 수집한 자료를 분석한 결과 일반학교, 저시력학급, 시각장애학교에서경험으로 도출된 의미는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 일반고등학교의 진로 및 직업교육은 성적수준에 맞춘 대학진학상담을 중심으로 진로교과가 편성되어 구성되었으나, 저시력학생에게는 무의미했다. 둘째, 저시력학급에서는 특정적으로 저시력학생으로 구성된 학급인 만큼 저시력학생의 특성과 요구를 고려한 진학상담이주요 진로 및 직업교육으로 구성된다. 선행 졸업자의 진로선택에 대한 누적된 정보를 바탕으로 이루어지는 진학상담을 토대로 학생은 이를 반영하여 진로를 선택할 수 있었다. 반면, 저시력학생의 적성 및 흥미를 고려한 진로선택에는 다소 미약했다. 셋째, 시각장애학교에서의학령기 진로 및 직업교육은 이료교육과 대학진학 상담이 중심이 되었다. 시각장애학교에서누적된 시각장애인의 진로 선택사례의 다양성을 토대로 하여 실시된 진학상담에서는 안정적인 진로와 직업에 대한 교사의 안내로 현실적인 저시력인에게 유의미한 정보를 제공한다는점에서는 강점으로 작용하였다. 그러나 개인의 흥미에 대한 도전적 시도에는 미흡했다
The purpose of this study is to understand the meanings of school career and vocational education experience for the persons with severe low vision. To do this, six research participants were selected and data were collected through in-depth interviews. The results obtained from the experiences of the general school, the visually impaired school, and the low vision special class were as follows. First, high school career and vocational education in general school was organized by career education centered on college entrance counseling in accordance with grade level, but it was meaningless for low vision students. Second, high school career and vocational education in the visually impaired school centered on fictitious education and university counseling. In the counseling conducted on the basis of the diversity of career choice cases of the visually handicapped accumulated in the visually handicapped school, it served as a strength in providing meaningful information to the realistic low vision man through guidance of the stable career and career. However, it was not enough for the challenging attempts of individual interest.Third, in the low vision special class, it is a class composed of low vision students in particular, and the higher education counseling considering the characteristics and needs of low vision students consists of main career and vocational education.
