The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of personal image making on the job satisfaction of middle-aged and elderly people in Korea and the differences in personal image making by occupation. The survey was conducted for 800 people aged 40 to 64 years old. Analysis of the data was used with SPSS 24.0. The results showed that positive thinking and self-inclination management of mental image making, fashion management and body shape management of physical image making and manner management, speech, facial expression management of social image making had a positive effect on job satisfaction. Meanwhile, cosmetic surgery management had a negative effect on job satisfaction. The result on the differences of personal image making by occupation showed that public officials and professionals had higher positive thinking and self-inclination management in terms of mental image making. General office workers, public officials, and professionals showed higher levels of body shape, cosmetic surgery, appearance and fashion management in terms of physical image making. In addition, general office workers and public officials showed higher social image making in terms of facial expression management, speech and manner management. The results of this study are expected to contribute to industries that need image making such as the silver, cultural and fashion industries. Also, this study is expected to contribute to companies that need human resource education and training.
