이 논문은 한국장로교회 예배예식서의 통시적 고찰에 따른 세례신학과 세례예식을 연구한 것이다. 본고는 두 가지의 연구 목적으로 논술되었다. 첫째는, 한국장로교회 예배예식서에 나타난 세례신학 및 세례예식의 원리와 실제들을 통시적으로 분석하고 고찰하여 이에 대한 정보를 제공하는 것이다. 둘째는, 이런 분석과 고찰에 따른 세례예식의 원리와 구조 모델을 제시하는 것이다. 한국장로교회 세례관련 초기문헌에는 일반적인 세례의 의미와 세례를 시행할 때의 원칙에 대해서만 구술하고 있으며, 구체적인 세례예식의 예문을 찾아 볼 수 없다. 상대적으로 문답이나 구조, 신경이나 규칙을 통한 교리적인 교육에 치중한 편이라 할 수 있다. 한국 장로교회 근대문헌에는 세례예식의 구조와 요소 및 순서가 나타난다. 세례예식은 주로 `서약`과 `세례`라는 2중 구조를 나타내고 있고, 서약을 이루는 질문은 삼위일체 신관에 기초한 구속사적 관점으로 이루어져 있다는 특징이 있다. 근대 안에서도 후대로 갈수록 세례예식의 요소가 확충되었으나, 세례예식의 진행이 목사중심일변도이며 회중 참여적 요소나 공동체성함양의 요소를 발견하기 어려운 한계가 있다. 필자는 특히 해방이후 현대까지 발간된 교단예식서를 중심으로 예식서에 나타난 세례신학과 세례예식을 고찰하였다. 그리고 `통합`, `합동`, `고신`, `백석` 교단 등 장로교 4개 교단의 예식서들을 비교하며 평가하였다. 한국장로교회 현대예식서는 초기문헌과 근대문헌의 세례신학적 강조점들을 대체로 수용하고 이를 보강하였다. 그리고 세례예식의 구조와 순서와 요소들이 상대적으로 대폭 발전하는 양상을 보여주고 있으며, 회중의 참여와 공동체 정신의 함양을 위한 여러 요소들도 첨가되었다. 그리고 필자는 세례예식 구성의 시금석(試金石)으로서 구조의 통일성과 요소의 다양성, 회중의 참여와 공동체성의 강화, 그리고 상징과 신비를 동반하는 다감각성 이라는 세 측면을 강조하였다. 또한 세례예식을 구성하는 통일적 구조로서 `개회-서약-세례-환영`의 4중 구조를 제안하고, 각 부분에 들어갈 수 있는 요소들을 배열하는 세례예식 구성 모델을 제안하였다. 이어서 필자는 세례예식에 사용될 수 있는 실제적인 예시들을 제시하였다.
This paper is about a diachronic study on the baptism theology and liturgy of the book of worship in Korean Presbyterian Church. This paper has two purposes. First, to give information what this paper analyzed and considered a matter in all its aspects about a diachronic study on the baptism theology and liturgy of the book of worship in Korean Presbyterian Church. Second, according to analyze and consider of baptism theology, this paper will suggest a principle and a model of structure of baptism liturgy. The primary characteristics of baptism related documents in Korean Presbyterian Church for the beginning era explained the meaning of baptism and the principles during the practice of baptism, but it could not find the illustrative sentence of baptism liturgy. Rela tively focused on doctrinal education through catechism, creed, and principle. The characteristics of modern times documents has the structure, elements and order of baptism. Baptismal liturgy has dual structures which are `Confession of Faith` and `Baptism`. The char-acteristics of the question on confession of faith has the redemptive perspective which is based on the Trinity. Baptismal liturgy has been enlarged as times go by, but it`s process is pastoral center and it has limitation due to hard to find the congregational participating elements or the communal character cultivation elements. And the writer reviewed especially four denomination litur-gy books in Korean Presbyterian Church which are `TONGHAP`, `HAPDONG`, `KOSIN`, `BAEKSEOK`, and this paper compares all of these books and evaluated. These books accepted and augmented of the emphasized baptismal theology of the beginning baptismal document and modern baptismal document. And it shows the great development of the structure for the baptismal liturgy and the ele-ments, and added congregational participating and the cultivation of the community spirit. And the writer emphasized three aspects: the unit of structure and diversity of elements which is the touchstone of component parts for the baptismal liturgy and congregational participation, strength of the community spirit, sensibility through a symbol and mystery. In addition, the writer suggests quadruple structure that is `Open-ing-Confession of Faith-Baptism-Welcome` and this is the unifi-cation structure for the baptismal liturgy, and suggests baptismal structure model arranged by each parts of elements. Furthermore, the writer shows the baptismal practice cases for the purpose of using baptismal liturgy.
