Maxine Greene is a pioneer of aesthetic approaches in teaching and social imagination with the methods that could be used to awaken learners to the reality of their emancipation and freedom. Thus, in this study, I will explore Greene’s educational thought and philosophy(focusing on her aesthetic and social approaches), including her understanding of curriculum and her view of social issues, and apply her educational theories to the Korean context with Christian educational perspectives. The structure of the study is as follows: First, I will review Maxine Greene’s representative book, Releasing the Imagination. Second, I will explore her educational goal, method, main educational concepts, and curriculum understanding. Lastly, I will apply her aesthetic and social educational theories to the Korean context with Christian educational perspectives. In conclusion, I will evaluate her education’s dedication and limitation.
