This paper is to discuss on the doubtful phrase about The Analects of Confucius (Lunyu) based on new stand point of early Chinese philosophers, that is about the Entry 15 of “Weizheng” annotated by Wang Niansun: The Master said, Learning without thought is labor is lost; thought without learning is perilous. It would be said that Wang made a highest accomplishment, great scholar worthy of the name, at least in solving the doubtful difficult problems which would be dealt with Chinese Classics through the study of historical evidence. However he, explaining the Entry 15 of The Analects of Confucius, could not explained clearly on the substances equivalent to delicate shade of meaning because he caused some problems in his explaining the phrases above did not closely follow the original Text in pursuit of intention be foolish add an examples and neglected the coincidence with vocabulary in the part of speech, also not examined the meaning of phrase up and down etc. Those problems only externally appeared something. If we pursuit the root cause which arouse the issues about the Entry 15 of “Weizheng” in The Analects of Confucius, it would be generally intensively three kinds: get out of meaning from original character and phrase, neglect the principles from the published books under the Confucius disciples, disregard on the state the purpose from the very beginning, miss select for the intention of phrase and also unimportant deal of its meaning. Thus we can escape the mistakes from Wang made some mistakes, in the case of considering the surface and original meaning. Then such approaches easily followed the intention of Confucius and make the followed fully hold those meanings, if we try to explain the meaning of phrase based upon the above conditions.
