Reforms of different universities are not common, as there have been structural reform evaluations of college education arising from decline of school-age population. Some universities are closing down some departments or are merging them into other departments. Especially, departments providing second foreign language are either decreasing the number of student admission, are abolishing the department. Universities are at a point in which they must research teaching methods to teach French in practical and economic ways. They are in need of examining the circumstances of students to find an efficient French classes model suitable to circumstances in Korea. This research identified the following subject of inquiry to explore willingness to study French with the criteria of students majoring in English and students not majoring in English. The data collected in this research was analyzed by SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science) WIN 21.0 program. Based on this finding, universities should reinforce interpretation and translation education by comparing English and French. To design interpretation and translation classes in colleges, methods to enforce French classes by utilizing the comparative linguistic background of English and French are needed.
