이 논문은 싱가포르의 화문시(華文詩)를 분석대상으로 삼아 도시와 민족 상상, 그리고 문화적 정체성을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 주로 싱가포르 화문시에 나타난 주요한 작가와 작품 세계를 고찰하였다. 그중에서도 싱가포르의 ‘오월시사(五月詩社)’ 구성원들을 주요 연구대상으로 삼아 이들 작품 세계 속의 도시와 민족에 대한 상상인식과 문화적 정체성을 분석하였다. 특히 왕룬화(王潤華)와 단잉(淡瑩)의 시세계를 중심으로 그들 문학 속의 포스트식민적 문학세계를 분석하였다. 이와 같이, 싱가포르 화문시는 현실주의와 모더니즘의 상호 영향 속에서 싱가포르 문화의 독자성을 강조하며 과거의 식민주의 경험으로부터 벗어나는 새로운 포스트식민주의 시 문학 경향을 반영하였다. 결론적으로 본 연구를 통하여 싱가포르 현대시사에서 화문시의 문학적 의미와 특징을 이해할 수 있었으며, 싱가포르 화문시인의 문학적 특징을 이해할 수 있었다. 그들은 주로 동남아 화문문학의 도시와 민족에 대한 상상과 문화적 정체성을 표현하였다. 이들의 작품세계 고찰을 통하여 싱가포르의 도시화와 현대화 흐름 속에서 국가와 민족에 대한 상상과 혼종적인 다문화 교육과 문화적 정체성을 찾아나가고 있는 화인들의 문학세계를 이해하였다.
This paper analyzed the city, ethnic imagination, and cultural identity in overseas Chinese poetry of Singapore. This paper mainly examined the major works of art in Singapore. The main research subjects of this paper are mainly the members of 'May Poetry Society' in Singapore. This study analyzed the perception and cultural identity of cities and nations in these works. We also analyzed the postcolonial literary world in their literature, focusing on the poetry of Wang Lun Hua and Dan Ying. In this way, the overseas Chinese poetry of Singapore emphasizes the uniqueness of Singaporean culture in the mutual influence of realism and modernism, and reflects the new post colonial poetry literature trend that deviates from the past colonialist experience. In conclusion, through this study, I could understand the literary meaning and characteristic in the modern poem of Singapore, and understand the literary character of Singapore’s poet. They expressed the imagination and cultural identity of the city and ethnic of Southeast Asian literature. Through their review of their works, I have grasped the literary world of the Chinese who are looking for multicultural education and cultural identity, imagining the nation and the nation in the flow of urbanization and modernization in Singapore.
