이 논문에서는 전자 제품의 사용 설명서에 나타난 어휘, 문장 표현과 텍스트 구조를 분석하여 반복적으로 나타나는 문제점들에 대해 살펴보았다. 사용 설명서는 단순한 정보 제공에 그치는 것이 아니라 제품의 안전하고 올바른 사용을 위해 사용자가 지켜야 할 여러 지침을 지시하는 내용을 담아야 하는 텍스트적 특성이 있으므로, 실제 테크니컬 라이팅의 과정에서 핵심적으로 대두되는 문제들이 잘 드러난다. 어휘적 차원에서는 특히 지시 대상의 명칭을 제시하는 어휘를 명확하고 일관되게 선택할 필요가 있으며, 문장의 차원에서는 무엇보다 문장의 구조 인식 문제가 중요하다. 최대한의 간결성을 추구할 수밖에 없는 사용 설명서의 특성상 연접과 이접, 인과 등의 의미적 연결로 제시되는 문장 구조에 유의할 필요가 있다. 텍스트의 차원에서는 맥락의 모호성을 극복하는 문제, 복수의 항목들을 배열하는 과정에서 정보의 범주화 문제를 살펴보았다. 사용자에게 사용 설명서는 자신이 원하는 정보를 최대한 빠르게 찾아낼 수 있는 텍스트이어야 하므로, 여러 항목들이 나열되는 경우 해당 정보를 범주화하여 그 배열을 예측 가능하도록 제시하는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze repeated problems by analyzing vocabulary, sentence expression and text structure in electronic manuals. The user’s manual has textual characteristics that should not only provide information but also contain instructions that should be followed by the user to ensure the safe and correct use of the product. Therefore, the user’s manual contains important issues in the course of actual technical writing. First, in the lexical aspect, it is important to make clear and consistent choice of the terms that presents the name of the target and on the side of the sentence, it is important to construct the structure of the sentence correctly. Especially, it is necessary to pay attention to the sentence structure presented by semantic connection such as conjunction and causality, because the manual is the text that seeks maximum conciseness. Finally, in the aspect of composition of text, it is important to overcome the ambiguity of context, and to categorize information in arranging multiple items predictably.
