In this article, I try to tackle with prevailing approaches to represent the 68 movement, in its commemorating half-century. While a range of 68 movement discourses assert they are historicizing it, they seem to have unsurpassable limits from the point of view of Marxist historical thinking. First and foremost, in defining the 68 movement as cultural revolution or political revolt as such, they are supposed not to carry the historical totality deriving from periodical transition of global capitalism. Employing the method of ‘periodization’ in Marxist historical thinking, I make effort to reveal the world-historical nature endowed with “the third world project” since-war and flows of de-colonization. For it, I trace the trajectory from Bandung Conferen in 1955 to Non-alignement meeting in 1983, which encompasses an array of struggles and failures to dominat forces to shape the new colonialism. In concluding, I ask to examine the pedagogic impact of historical representation of the 68 movement in the frontier of Asia since the rise of neo-liberal globalization.
