이 연구에서는 소설 읽기가 지닌 수사적 측면에 주목하여 관련 이론을 살피고 소설의 수사적 읽기 교육 방법을 모색한다. 소설에 대한 수사학적 접근은 소설 텍스트를 담화의 질서로 보고 독서 행위의 소통적 구도에 주목하여 학습독자가 적극적인 참여자로서 문학작품을 수용하는 것을 지향한다. 학습자는 소설의 수사적 읽기를 수행하면서 저자의 의도가 담긴 텍스트의 구조와 화자의 언술 방식에 대한 탐색을 통해 주관적․정서적 반응을 일으키고 언어 자질을 중심으로 자신의 소설 해석에 구체적이고 타당한 근거를 확보할 수 있다. 소설의 수사적 읽기는 첫째, 소설을 작가의 치밀한 전략에 의해 설계된 구조물로 보고 독자가 비평적 관점을 취하며 미적․정서적․윤리적 판단 과정을 거쳐 텍스트의 의도를 고려하며 해석하는 수사적 형식 탐구이자 둘째, 언어 예술인 소설 텍스트가 지닌 다원성에 기반하여 개방된 해석을 지향하는 독서 행위의 수사학적 태도를 의미한다. 소설의 수사적 읽기의 이론적 근거로 수사학과 해석학, 해체론을 살폈으며 소설교육의 근간을 이루는 서사학에서의 수사학 논의와 현행 교육과정 및 교과서에서의 수사학적 접근 양상을 탐색하였다. 이를 바탕으로 제안한 소설의 수사적 읽기의 방법은 ‘텍스트의 특성 및 의도 탐구로서의 수사 읽기’, ‘텍스트와의 경쟁에 기반한 수사적 읽기’, ‘불가능한 독서를 시도하는 해체적 읽기’의 세 가지이다.
This study focuses on the rhetorical aspects of novels. The purpose is to examine related theories and explore rhetorical reading education methods used with novels. The rhetorical approach to novel reading focuses on the communication structure of the act of reading by considering the novel text as the basis of the discourse and aims for the reader to accept the literary works as an active participant. The learner makes a subjective and emotional response upon researching the text containing the author's intention and the narrative method. The reader then establishes a concrete and valid basis for his or her interpretation, focusing on language qualities, while performing a rhetorical reading of the novel. This is a dialogue with the subjects participa ting in the narrative communication situation. In this process, the reader can cultivate a critical attitude towards the written material by practicing using value judgments on persuasive texts. The rhetorical reading of a novel first requires an inquiry as to the rhetorical type, which regards the novel as a structure designed by the author's detailed strategy. The reader takes a critical point of view and considers the intention of the text through an aesthetic, emotional and ethical judgment process. Second, it is a rhetorical attitude of reading activity that aims open interpretation based on pluralism of novel text as art of language. This study investigated rhetoric, hermeneutics, and disintegration as the theoretical basis and explored the rhetorical approach of narratology which constitutes the basis of novel education. Based on this, there are three edu cation methods of rhetorical reading of the novel: ‘reading the rhetoric as a character of the text and exploring the intention of the text’, ‘rhetorical reading based on competition with text’, and ‘deconstructive reading beyond the unreadability’.
