Generally, hotel can be classified into Luxury and city hotel, based on the their business model and characteristics of hotel operation. Nonetheless, most of previous studies solely measure the efficiency including all decision making units, ignoring the characteristic of hotel group practice. Therefore, this study measured the meta-efficiency of 11 ‘L’ hotel branches in 2016 using data envelopment analysis, considering the characteristic of hotel group. In addition, this study also employed bootstrapped truncated regression to analyze the relationship between the hotel branch’ operational policies and meta-efficiency based on the CRS and VRS. The results demonstrated that hotel size and available parking lots have positive effects on the meta-efficiency score, while room size have negative effects. This indicates that a need to improve efficiency by adjusting resource allocation and increasing the number of rooms. This study’s findings suggest strategic operational plans to cope with the fluctuations in the internal and external environments and to identify the best-practice hotel branches that others can emulate.
