본고의 목적은 해방기에서 2009년 개정 교육과정까지 초등학교 국어교과서에 수록된 전래동요의 양상과 전래동요의 교육적 의미를 살펴보는 것이다. 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학교 국어교과서에 수록된 전래동요의 양상이다. 국어교과서에 수록된 전래동요는 가창의 현장성이 약화되고 노랫말의 구성이 약화되고 대상에 대한 친밀감(또는 공감)이 약화되는 방향으로 변개된다. 둘째, 전래동요의 교육적 의미이다. 대상을 표현한 전래동요의 노랫말에는 놀이기능이 중심인 것과 표출기능이 중심인 것이 있다. 놀이기능이 중심인 노랫말에서 화자는 대상을 깊이 있게 이해하고 그것을 바탕으로 대상과 친교를 형성하고, 대상의 단점을 우호적인 흥미 거리가 되게 함으로써 친교를 유지한다. 표출기능이 중심인 노랫말에서 대상은 하층민의 비참한 삶을 표출한다. 가창자는 대상이 표출하는 삶이 자신의 삶과 유사하여 대상에 공감하기 용이하다. 결국 전래동요에서 가창자들은 대상을 깊이 있게 이해하고, 대상과 친교를 맺고, 대상에 공감한다. 이러한 사실로 보아 전래동요는 학습 독자들로 하여금 타인을 이해하고 존중하는 태도를 기르는 데에 적당한 자료이다.
In this thesis, I aim at investigation at the aspect of traditional children’s song in korean language textbook and educational meaning of traditional children’s song. The result is as follows. The aspect of traditional children’s song in korean language textbook: The singing sense of realism is weakened, lyrics composition is weakened, sense of closeness(or empathy) toward object is weakened. The educational meaning of traditional children’s song: There is two kind in the traditional children’s song of expressing object. The one is the lyric that is based playfulness. The other is the lyric that is based expression. In the lyric being based playfulness, the speaker form a close friendship with object and maintain a close friendship with object. In the lyric being based expression, the object express a miserable poor life. The life is similar to the singing person’s life, so the singing person empathize the object. Therefore the studentreaders will be able to a thoughtfully comprehend the object and form a close friendship with the object and empathize the object with traditional children’s song.
