본 연구는 특성화고교졸업자 전형을 통해 대학에 입학한 학생들이 대학에 적응하는 과정에서 어떠한 경험을 하는지 알아보고자 하는 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 상업계열 특성화고등학교를 졸업하고 서울에 소재한 한 여자대학교에 특성화고교졸업자 전형으로 입학하여 재학 중인 학생 8명을 연구참여자로 선정하고 개별면담을 통해 자료를 수집한 후 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 대학입학 이전의 경험과 대학입학 이후의 경험으로 구분되었다. 대학입학 전 경험으로는 이들의 특성화고등학교 진학이 전략적 선택이었으나 특성화고등학교에서의 학업이 예상만큼 수월하지 않았고, 이를 극복하고 보다 나은 취업조건을 확보하기 위해 대학에 진학하게 되는 내용이 도출되었다. 대학입학 후의 경험은 학업적, 정서적, 관계적 측면으로 분석되었으며 각 측면에서 이들은 다층적이며 복합적 경험을 하면서 적극적 성향을 활용해 어려움을 극복하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석 결과에 근거하여 특성화고교졸업자 전형 학생들을 지원하기 위한 방안을 제안하였다.
The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of college students who have admitted by special screening for vocational high school graduates. For this purpose, 8 students who had entered college though special screening for vocational high school graduates and currently enrolled in a female university in Seoul were selected as research participants. Data were collected through individual interviews and analyzed utilizing the content analysis. The results of the study were divided into the experiences before and after the college entrance. In their pre-college experience, the decision to go to vocational high school was a strategic choice, but the study at a vocational high school was not as straightforward as expected. It was found that the students would go to college to get better employment conditions. Their college experience was analyzed in terms of academic, emotional, and relational aspects. In each aspect, they were able to overcome difficulties by using positive tendencies while experiencing multi-layered and complex contexts.
