이 글에서는 백제역사유적지구 활성화를 위하여 공주 공산성의 활용현황과 대안제시에 대하여 논의하고자 했다. 이를 위하여 먼저 공산성이 가지고 있는 보편적가치에 대한 검토를 선행함으로써 향후 활용방안의 진정성을 확보하고자 하였다. 그 결과, 공산성의 세계유산적 가치는 백제시대 왕궁지에 있음을 확인하였다. 그리고 현재 전개되고 있는 공산성의 활용현황 분석을 통하여 한계점과 대안제시를 위한문제제기를 선행하였다. 문화유산의 활용은 방문객과 문화유산의 가치동기화 과정을 배경으로 전개되어야한다. 가상현실을 통한 문화유산의 복원 및 활용, 지역시민교육을 통한 가치관 형성등은 지속․발전 가능한 공산성 문화유산 활용의 좋은 예가 될 수 있을 것이다. 문화유산의 지속․발전 가능한 활용을 위해서는 발빠르게 변화하는 다양한 매체와 대중들의 트렌드와 함께 문화유산의 가치를 가장 중심에 둔 활용방안이 계속적으로 연구되어야 할 것이다.
This paper sought to discuss the utilization status and alternative proposals regarding the Gongju Gongsanseong Fortress with the aim to vitalize the Baekje Historic Areas. For this, Firstly, it attempted to ensure the feasibility of future utilization plans by conducting an advance review of the universal value of Gongsanseong Fortress. As a result, it was confirmed that World heritage value of Gongsanseong Fortress was site of the royal palace during the Baekje Kingdom. In addition, through the ongoing analysis of the utilization status of Gongsanseong Fortress, it aimed to raise issues regarding the limitations and alternative proposals on the subject. The utilization of cultural heritage must take place on the premise of the value synchronization process between visitors and the cultural heritage. Efforts such as the restoration and utilization of cultural heritage using virtual reality technology and the formation of values through the education of local residents may provide effective examples for the utilization of the cultural heritage of Gongsanseong Fortress with the capacity for sustainable development. The utilization of cultural heritage with the capacity for sustainable development will require continuous research on various rapidly-changing media, trends among the general public, and utilization plans that place paramount focus on the value of cultural heritage.
