2018학년도 대입부터 ‘한국사’ 과목의 수능 필수화가 이루어 졌으며, 이에 따라 평가 방식 역시 절대평가로 바뀌었다. 이에 따라 수능 ‘한국사’에서 일제 강점기에 관한 문항이 그리는 歷史像은 어떻게 변화했을까. 이 논문은 이를 확인하기 위해 수능에서 한국사가 독립 과목으로 출제된 2005학년도 수능 이래 출제된 일제 강점기에 대한 문항들을 검토하였다. 역사과 교육과정이 3차례 변화함에 따라 수능에서 다룰 수 있는 일제 강점기 관련 문항은 줄어들어 평가할 수 있는 사항이 감소하였다. 더군다나 ‘쉬운 한국사’ 지향됨에 따라 문항의 형태는 지문 1개를 통해 1개의 내용만을 평가하는 방식으로 급속하게 재편되고 있다. 문항의 형태만이 아니라 내용면에서도 문항을 통해 제시하는 역사상은 왜소화되고 있다. 역사과 교육과정이 3차례 변화했지만 이들 교육과정은 모두 ‘지배와 저항’이라는 歷史像에 근거해 있었다. 그렇지만 교육과정에서 제시하는 내용 요소가 감소함에 따라 ‘지배와 저항’외의 당시의 모습을 전달할 수 있는 부분은 사라졌으며, 수능에서도 그러한 문항들은 더 이상 등장하지 않게 되었다. 한편 ‘지배’의 역사상과 관련해서는 특정한 식민 통치 정책이 시행될 당시의 사회 모습을 질문하는 문항이 다수 출제되는데 이는 사회 변화의 동력으로서 지배 권력을 과대평가하게 될 우려가 있다. 또 ‘저항’의 역사상과 관련해서는 근대 사회로의 전환에 따른 저항의 모습을 보여주는 사항이 사라지고 오직 민족 저항으로서 독립 운동 관련 사항만이 남게 되었다. 그나마도 독립 운동의 분화와 관련된 문항들은 사라진 채 3․1 운동과 대한민국 임시 정부를 중심으로 하여 몇 가지 사항이 더해지며 ‘저항’의 역사상도 왜소화되었다.
'Korean history' has become a compulsory subject in the College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) from 2017. At the same time, an absolute evaluation system was introduced. So how does the historical images sketched by questions about the Japanese imperialism era in CSAT come to change? This paper examines questions about the Japanese imperialism era in CSAT after 2004 to answer this question. By the three times of changes in History Curriculum, the number of questions about the Japanese imperialism era in CSAT has been reduced. And the format of question was simplified for the goal of 'easy question'. So historical images which are presented in questions in CSAT were reduced. All three History Curricula are centered around the historical images of 'domination and resistance'. However, the decline of the content in History Curricula has further enhanced the historical images of 'domination and resistance' in CSAT questions. In relation to the 'domination', there were many questions about the society state in which a particular colonial rule was enforced. This is likely to overestimate the ruling power of society as a motive for social change. In relation to the 'resistance', questions about resistance showing the transition to modern society disappeared. Only are issues related to the March 1st Independence Movement and the Provisional Republic of Korean Government left.
