류은경의 소설 『선덕여왕』과 이를 원작으로 하는 드라마 ≪선덕여왕≫은 공감이론 및 게임이론을 통해 유가의 인(仁)이나 수기치인(修己治人)의 개념을 형상화하고 있다. 게임이론에 입각해서 형상화된 사건은 독자들로 하여금 주어진 것에 피동적으로 판단하는 것이 아니라 인물과 인물, 행태와 행태가 부딪치며 진행되는 국면들에 즉해서 판단하도록 한다. 이는 신의 죽음과 함께 시작된 자본주의 안에서 살아가는 근대인이 마주해야 하는 패러다임적 현실을 직시하게 하는 방식이라 할 수 있다. 신을 잃어버린 근대인은 자본주의의 문제를 스스로 해결해 나가야 한다. 게임과 공감, 황금률 등과 같은 개념은 이러한 문제를 해결하는 방법론으로 발견된 것들이라 할 수 있다. 본고는 이러한 관점에서 이들 작품이 이타적 게임을 하는 천명공주, 김춘추 등 유신․덕만 측이 승리하는 이유, 그리고 이기적 게임을 하는 세종, 설원 등 미실․비담 세력의 패배를 형상화하는 방식에 대해 알아본다. 유신이 비담에 대해 승리를 거두는 것은 이타적인 집단을 형성하여 이기적인 구성원들이 모인 집단을 물리쳤기 때문이다. 이 성공은 우리가 모방할 수 있는, 자본주의의 문제를 해결하는 방책이다. 이는 ‘인간의 본성과 흡사한 이데올로기’인 자본주의를 존재로 인정하고, 그 안에서 해결방식을 찾으려는 우리 시대의 시대정신이 이들 작품을 통해 발현되는 것으로 볼 수 있다.
The original novel, Queen Seondeok, by Eun-kyung Liu, and its drama, which is based on the novel, shape the concept of 'benevolence' or 'self-governing people' in Confucianism with the empathy theory and game theory. The events that were shaped in the framework of game theory allow readers to judge what is given in terms of the conflicts between behaviors as well as between characters rather than passively judge it. This is a way of facing up to the reality of paradigm which modern people live in capitalism starting with the death of God. The modern people who have lost God must solve the problems of capitalism on their own. The concepts such as game, empathy, and golden rule are regarded as the methods to solve these problems. Within the framework of game theory, this study seeks to explain how the party of Deokman, Yusin Kim, and Chunmeung, Chunchoo Kim who play altruistic games won and how the other party which supports Sejong, Misil, and Bidam playing selfish game was defeated. The reason for the victory of Deokman and Yusin over Misil and Bidam is that the former organized a group using altruistic game strategies with people who were dedicated and was able to defeat the other group of selfish members. We can follow such a model to settle the problems caused by capitalism; through acknowledging the existence of capitalism which is the ‘ideology similar to human nature', and seeking a solution within it, which can be said the spirit of the times.
