Case Study about Youth Workers’ Share House Residence Decision Motives and Residence Experiences

본 연구의 목적은 청년 직장인들이 셰어하우스 거주를 결정하게 된 동기와 거주를 통해경험한 것이 무엇인지에 관해 살펴보는 데 있다. 연구자는 자료수집을 위해 셰어하우스에 거주하고 있는 청년 직장인 4명을 연구 참여자로 선정하였다. 심층 면담을 통해 수집된 자료는Creswell(2007)이 제안한 사례연구 방법으로 각각의 사례에 대한 ‘사례 내 분석’과 공통된 주제를 파악하는 ‘사례 간 분석’으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 셰어하우스 거주 결정 동기로는 ‘적막한 세상에서 벗어나기’, ‘어울림 속 독립 공간의 갈망’, ‘녹록하지 않은 주머니 사정’으로 나타났다. 셰어하우스 거주를 통한 경험은 ‘덜어낸 경제적 부담감’, ‘풍부한 인적 자원의 공유’, ‘식사공동체에서 나누는 기쁨’, ‘불협화음으로 인한 갈등’, ‘울타리 같은 존재’로 나타났다. 셰어하우스 거주를 통해 새로운 관계 맺기가형성되고 구성원들 간의 상호교환이 이루어지는 나눔의 공간임을 발견할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 청년 직장인의 관점에서 셰어하우스 거주 경험을 탐색하여 ‘공유주거로써의 집’ 이 단순히 공간의 개념을 넘어 사람과 사람을 잇는 매개로 작용하여 새로운 주거공동체를 형성하고 있음을 확인하였다는데 의의가 있다.

This research’s purpose is to examine youth workers’ share house residence decision motives and what they experiences through the residence. The participants selected for data collection are 4 youth workers who are living in share house. The data collected through in-depth interviews were analyzed through the case study method that Creswell(2007) proposed, which are ‘Analysis within the case’ about each case and ‘Analysis among cases’ which grasps a common topic. As the research result, the share house residence decision motives turned out as ‘Escaping the desolate world’, ‘Craving for an independent space within society’, and ‘Poor financial circumstance’. The experience through share house residence turned out as ‘Less financial burden’, ‘Sharing of abundant human resources’, ‘Joy shared in meal community’, ‘The conflict arise from cacophony’, and ‘Fence-like existence’. It was checked that new relationships are formed through share house residence and that share house is a space of sharing where mutual exchange among members occurs. This research as a significance in searching share house residence experience in youth workers’ perspective and confirming that “House as a shared residence” not only has a concept of space but also acts as a mediation that connects people and forms a new residential community.
