현대기아차그룹의 계열회사인 현대글로비스는 자동차 전문 물류회사로서 현대-기아차의 국내 및 해외 사업의 전 범위의 물류업무를 대행하고 있다. 현대글로비스의 우수한 물류 운영 능력은 현대자동차 그룹이 짧은 기간에 글로벌 자동차회사로 급성장할 수 있는 원동력이 되었다. 이 논문에서는 자동차 산업의 이해를 통해 자동차 전문 물류업체의 중요성에 대해 살펴보았다. 또한, 체코와 슬로바키아 공장을 중심으로 자동차 물류 분야에서 현대글로비스의 핵심 성공 요인을 도출하였다. 첫째 KD 수출 및 현지 조달을 통한 해외 공장의 성공적 부품 조달이고, 둘째 서열공급(Just-in-sequence)으로 대표되는 생산과 물류의 동기화 구축이다. 이를 통해 재고의 감축은 물론, 생산라인의 안정적인 운영 또한 확보되었다. 마지막으로 통합부품물류센터 중심의 조달물류 체계 구축을 통해 부품의 조달, 재고 관리, 생산라인의 투입까지 전 과정을 통합 운영하였다.
Hyundai Glovis, a subsidiary of Hyundai-Kia Motors Group, acts as a logistics service provider for Hyundai-Kia Motors' entire domestic and overseas logistics business. Hyundai Glovis's excellent logistics management capability has enabled Hyundai Motors Group to grow rapidly as a global automobile company in a short period of time. In this paper, we have discussed the importance of logistics companies specialized in automobiles through understanding of automobile industry. In addition, we focused on the key success factors of Hyundai Glovis in the logistics of automobiles centered on factories in Czech and Slovakia. The first is the successful procurement of parts for overseas plants through KD export and local procurement, and the second is the synchronization of production and logistics represented by just-insequence. As a result, not only inventory reduction but also stable operation of the production line was secured. Finally, we integrated the whole process from procurement, inventory management, and input into production line of parts through establishment of procurement logistics system centered on consolidation center.
