There are articles in Shiji (『史記』) and Sanguozhi (『三國志』) about the fact that Yan(燕) set up five Juns(郡; commanderies) in the land seized from Donghu(東胡) and Chaoxian(朝鮮) and then surrounded the outside with the Wall. However, it is hard to say that the five Juns of Yan were set up all at the same time simply with the diagram of the article about the ‘repulse of Beizu(北族) a the construction of the Wall a installation of Bianjun(邊郡).’ Only, Liaodong Jun(遼東郡) is believed to have been installed in the area of 2,000 li(里) from Chaoxian. The eastern end of the Liaodong Jun that was the border between Yan and Chaoxian was Manfanhan(滿蕃汗), and the area is thought to be Wenxian(汶縣) and Fanhanxian(番汗縣). Many researchers believe it to be the most logical that the area was near the Qianshan Shanmai(千山山脈; mountain range of Qianshan). After the reunification, Qin(秦) constructed Qinchangcheng(秦長城; the Great Wall of the United Qin) by using the existing old wall of Qin, Zhao(趙) and Yan. In Shiji, Qinchangcheng had reached Xiangping(襄平; 遼陽, Liaoyang), but the article of Yantielun(『鹽鐵論』) about Qin crossing the water Peishui(沛水) and destroying Chaoxian tells that Qin advanced beyond the existing boundary into the region of Chaoxian. It is not known exactly to what extent Qin's zhangsai(障塞) had been expanded, but the article suggesting that the Han (漢) had retreated to Peishui(浿水) leaves a clue. Peishui(沛水) and Peishui(浿水) are the same river, and the prevailing stance about Peishui(浿水) is to regard it as the Yalu(鴨綠) River or the Qingchuan(淸川) River. However, if the Peishui is regarded as the Qingchuan River, it creates an issue because the upper and lower Zhangs(障) of vacant land that had been caused by the retreat of Han are located just above the Daedong(大同) River. In addition, it is highly likely that the Qingchuan River could be the farthest extension of the Chinese forces by the fact that from the Qingchuan River in the middle, the north and south cultures are distinguished from each other. Currently, the existing remains of Yan in the regions of Liaoning(遼寧) and the west of North Korea are concentrated in the areas such as Jianping(建平), Lingyuan(凌源), Kezuo(喀左) and Chaoyang (朝陽) of Liaoxi(遼西). On the other hand, in the case of the east side of Liaohe(遼河), a small number of ruins are scattered around with several concentration points in the area between Northeast Great Plain and in the border of Liaodong Mountain and the west coast. This is related to the fact that the border between Yan and Chaoxian was the Qianshan Shanmai mountain range. On the other hand, the southern side of the Liaodong Peninsula, a large number of Beimu(貝墓; mausoleum graves) of the Han dynasty were found, and the majority of these remains have material contents from the late 3rd century BC to the end of the 2nd century BC and the 1st century BC. This is considered to be a confirmation of the boundary of Han before Wudi(武帝).
