본고는 최남선의 朝鮮常識問答續編 속에 기술된 한국의 예술사를 신화적 상상력이라는 측면에서 종합적으로 다루고자 하였다. 최남선은 초기 신화와 역사와 종 교에 대한 논의에서부터 말년의 연구 저서에 이르기까지 문화를 총체적이고 유기적으로 보고자 하였다. 역사와 신화와 종교와 문화가 따로 구분되기보다는 늘 서로 유기적 상호작용을 하면서 어우러져 있는 종합적 산물임을 강조하고 있다. 기행문 하나를 통해서도 역사와 신화와 종교와 예술이 함께 등장한다. 이는 현대 융합적 사고의 중요성이 강조되고 있는 시점에서 눈여겨 볼 만하다. 본고는 朝鮮常識 問答續編의 예술사에 대한 논의를 세 가지 지점에서 점검하였다. 첫째, 한국의 역사를 관통해서 예술사를 기술하는 과정 속에서 한국 예술의 창의성과 독창성이 존 재하고 있다는 점을 초지일관 견지하고 있는 것에 주목했다. 둘째, 한국의 예술은 종교와 밀접한 관련을 가지면서 일종의 신화성을 가진다는 점을 중요하게 보고자 했다. 셋째, 한국의 예술사를 기술함에 있어서 문학과 인문정신을 가미한 융합정신을 살피고 있는 점에 주목하고자 했다. 즉, 본 연구를 통해 근대 시대에 인문정신이 어떨게 융합적인 예술 문화사 기술에 활용되는지 살펴보고자 하였다.
This article attempts to examine into the Integrated imagination used in Modern Intelligent Choi NamSun's Art History Description, focusing on “The Sequel Question and Answer of Chosun Common Knowledge <朝鮮常識問答續編>”. To build up the Integrated imagination in the modern mental artistic space, Choi Nam-sun utilized Cosmopolitanism, Religiosity, and Integrated literature. The first, this article researches into Choi Nam-Sun's cultural Cosmopolitanism sharing beyond the boundary of cultural space. Dangun Myth is the most important sharing East Asian knowledge. Choi think of the nation as an oppositive consciousness. The second, Choi thought that the Chosun’s Art History showed dynamic cultural knowledge with religious mythicality. Particularly, Buddhism was the Korean religious art culture with a mythical viewpoint with climbing many famous mountains. This article aims to research into reconstructing a cultural art history through Choi’s various religion travels. The Third, Choi's method of studying the artistic imagination was cultural and Integrated. He thought that the Art History was a driving power to build national future. Namely, Integrated literary consciousness became a modern artistic knowledge.
