El trabajo reflexiona sobre el uso del animal en la literatura mexicana reciente, a partir de las contribuciones de Mauricio Montiel Figueiras (Guadalajara, 1968) y Alberto Chimal (Toluca, 1970). En especial, se subraya que el planteamiento de estos escritores tiene que ver con la idea de que, considerando el peso de una tradición (la que inaugura Juan José Arreola, a mediados del siglo pasado), conciben una imagen de lo fáunico relacionada con la crisis de los espacios modernos y las perversiones a las que da lugar. De modo que el objetivo del artículo sea comprender la manera en que en sus libros Los animales invisibles (2009) y La torre y el jardín (2012), respectivamente, plasman una alteración de la animalidad, abonando a esa representación literaria que enfatiza la vulnerabilidad de los seres no humanos y, de igual modo, cuestiona el criterio racional empleado por el hombre tras legitimar su desarrollo y bienestar.
This work reflects on the use of the animal in recent Mexican literature, based on the contributions of Mauricio Montiel Figueiras (Guadalajara, 1968) and Alberto Chimal (Toluca, 1970). Especially, it emphasized that the approach of these writers has to do with the idea that, considering the weight of a tradition (the one inaugurated by Juan José Arreola, in the middle of the last century), they conceive a problematic image of fauna related to the crisis of the modern spaces and the perversions to which it gives rise. So that the objective of the present article is understand the way that in their books Los animales invisibles (2009) y La torre y el jardín (2012), respectively, both display an alteration of animality, strengthening that literary representation that emphasizes the vulnerability of non-human beings and, equally, questions the rational criterion used by man after legitimizing his development and well-being.
