이 논문은 기존의 한문고전 번역서를 재번역할 경우, 그 범주를 보주와 보역, 그리고 재번역으로 설정하고 몇 가지 사례를 들어 그 방안을 제시하였다. 한국고전번역원에서 기존 번역서를 재번역한다면, 그 번역대상의 학술적 가치와 활용도를 고려하여 재번역할 것을 제안하였다. 재번역에서 중요하게 고려할 문제가 윤문이다. 수십 년 전 번역서의 경우 지금 독자들의 어문감각과 다르기 때문에 독자들의 어문 환경과 어문 감각을 감안하여 가독성을 높이는 방향에서 재번역할 필요가 있다는 것이다. 특히 한문 고전번역의 현대적 활용과 문화 컨텐츠로 활용가능하기 위해서는 기존 번역의 수정과 재번역은 수시로 하는 것이 바람직하다. 이는 독자나 연구자를 위해서도 바람직하기 때문이다. 이를 감안하면 수시로 이루어지는 것이 바람직하며 오역을 바로잡고 그것을 실현하는 방안도 적극 고려해야 한다.
This study discusses retranslation through the use of supplementary notes, supplementary translation, and retranslation, and suggests methods that give examples when using preexisting translations of Korean Classics. In the case of the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics, it suggests retranslation considering academic value and the utilization of the translating object. Rewriting is the most important thing to consider when retranslating Scores of years ago, published translation quality was far from our present standard, so retranslation should be undertaken to increase the readability. Especially, modification and retranslation should make use of modern applications and digital culture contents for the translation of Korean Classics. It is desirable for reader and researcher to point out mistakes in a translation and have a plan for how to proceed.
