This Paper is critical reflection on formation of Western Modernity and Hegel s judgement about asian world. Hegel was one of the thinkers who know the importance of modernity. He defined the modernity as new era new era is builded on values of modernity. It means for Hegel freedom of humankind. He interpreted history as history of freedom. In his Interpretation of history oriental world was disparaged as a world that despotism rules. Chinese world is the example. Stagnation rules history of Chinese World because chinese political system has never been changed. In Hegel s judgement countries in asia like China are not able to make better themselves. Hegel predicted that China had destiny to be conquered by western World, that is modern World. Hegel s interpretation of history and his judgement on Asian world influenced on many western modern philosophers and thinkers like K. Marx and Max Weber who studied Asian World, and on formation of Eurocentrism that is based on modernity. Lately modernity and it s values face a lot of challengers, particularly in relation to Eurocentrism. This paper criticized Eurocentrism that is based on western modernity and argued that western modernity is not the universal purpose that all humankind should follow. Western Modernity is also a Product of civilization exchange between East and West, For example Chinese civilization impacted so many european thinkers like Voltaire, C. Wolf, F, Quesnay in the Enlightenment and influenced the beginning of western modernity. From this historical perspective we newly think modernity and it s values.
