AB - This thesis analyzes both the postpositive structure of Yu and prepositive structure of Yu in the Western Zhou and Chunqiu Zhanguo periods. In “V+Structure of Yu”, Yu had rich Object type of in Western Zhou period. The grammaticalization of Yu mainly occurred in “V+Structure of Yu.” On the other hand, the prepositive structure of Yu is rarely found. Yu's object in the postpositive structure of Yu can play different semantic roles with the verb in front of Yu, but no matter how different the semantic roles Yu's object are, the basic syntactic function of Yu, which attracts a locative, person, or thing associated with movement, has never changed.
