본 연구의 목적은 현대 스페인 여성극작가 중에서도 활동적인 행보를 지속해나가는 팔로마 페드레로를 국내에 소개하고, 저자의 초기 작품들 중에서 페미니즘 성향이 두드러지게 나타나는 작품 『8월의 색채』에서 여성주의적 시각이 작품 내에서 어떻게 표현되었는지를 분석하고 그 의미를 살펴보는 데 있다. 전통적으로 폐쇄적이고 독점적인 남성 지배 이데올로기로 다져진 스페인 연극계에서 여성 작가들이 자신들의 목소리를 내기 시작한 것은 그리 오래되지 않았다. 이 작품은 가부장제와 남성중심주의사회에서 두 여성이 겪는 개인적․예술적 정체성 문제와 인간관계에서의 사랑과 증오의 모순된 감정을 다룬다. 특히 메타연극 형식을 통해 극적 갈등이 분출되면서 두 주인공을 억누르는 감정이 해소되고 이해와 연민을 통한 자매애의 연대 가능성을 제시한다. 또한 남성적 시각에서 섹슈얼리티의 대상이 되어온 여성의 몸에 대해 여성 스스로의 주체성과 자율성을 부여함으로써 여성 고유의 목소리를 획득하기 위한 여성적 글쓰기를 시도한다. 여성이 당하는 성차별주의적 불평등을 직접적인 경험을 통해 자각한 페드레로는 본 작품에서 페미니즘적 관점을 통해 여성들의 억압된 욕망을 실현하고 진정한 자유를 제안한다.
The purpose of this study is to introduce Paloma Pedrero, who continues to pursue vigorous activities among the contemporary Spanish female playwrights and to analyze and examine how the feminist viewpoint is expressed in El color de agosto, among the early stages of the works of the author. It has not been long since Spanish women writers began to voice their voices in the theatrical realm dominated by masculine ideologies, traditionally closed and exclusive. This drama deals with the personal and artistic identity problems of two women in patriarchal society and the contradictory feelings of love and hatred in human relationships. Especially, the dramatic conflicts are erupted through the form of metatheatre, releasing the emotions that suppress the two characters and suggests the possibility of solidarity of sisterhood through understanding and compassion. In addition, by giving the subjectivity and autonomy of the woman's own body that have become the subject of sexuality in the masculine viewpoint, she tries to make ‘feminine writing’ in order to acquire the voices of women. In this work Pedrero, who have been conscious of gender discrimination that women are subjected to through direct experience, realizes the oppressed desires of women and suggests genuine freedom from the feminist point of view.
