The main purpose of this study was to firstly understand Touristification phenomenon. In addition the current study tried to investigate how Touristification phenomenon affects community residents' life. In order to achieve the research objective, the study conducted in-depth interviews with 15 community residents who have liveed in Bukchon Hanok village or Ihwa Mural Village in Seoul, South Korea. The interviews were analyzed based on the grounded theory. Findings from interviews indicated that Touristification phenomenon could be categorized into three categories: Community life, Economic life domain, and Health/Safe life domain. The study findings showed that Touristification phenomenon negatively affects residents’ community life, economic life and health/safety life. The major contribution of this study is that it provides useful data for future Touristification studies.
