세계 테러리즘 데이터베이스(GTD : Global Terror Database)는 START 센터가 인터넷을 비롯한 다양한 공개 출처의 데이터를 수집하여 구축한 데이터베이스이다. 지역과 나라별 테러현황은 물론 공격, 무기, 타깃, 위치, 테러요약 정보 등 135개 정도에 이르는 관리항목으로 구축된 데이터베이스이다. 이 연구에서는 1970~2016년까지 45년 동안 발생한 GTD 데이터로부터 최근 급증하는 테러유형을 파악하고, 급격히 증가하고 있는 테러에 대한 공격, 무기, 타깃이 어떤 유형의 테러요약(Summmary) 정보와 유사한지를 분석한 결과 미확인 유형이 급증함을 알 수 있었다. 미확인 유형은 공격에서는 무장공격, 무기에서는 소형화기, 타깃에서는 경찰을 대상으로 한 테러요약 정보와 유사함을 알 수 있었다. 이 연구의 목적은 GTD 데이터를 활용하여 정부의 대테러정책 수립에 유용한 도구로서 빅데이터 분석방법으로 테러정보를 분석하는 데 있다.
The international terrorism database is a GTD(Global Terrorism Database) that START Center gathers and builds data on various public information sources including the Internet. It is a database composed of 135 management items such as region, country, terrorist attack, weapon, target, location, and summary information. In this study, we have found the recent sudden increase in terrorism patterns for the past 45 years from 1970 to 2016 and analyzed the similarity by type. The analysis showed that the type of unknown terror type was the most rapid. And unknown types of attacks were similar to armed attacks, and the weapon type was similar to a small gun, and the target type was similar to the police. The purpose of this study is to utilize Big Data Analysis Method to analyze terror information using GTD data.
